Imagine This ( Project AeroMetro )
This is the MG F EX255 from 1998.
Imagine a shape very similar to this, built on a 1993 Geo Metro 3 door platform, with an XFi cam, and all the recommended upgrades, such as EOC switches, taller final drive, 13 or 14 inch LRR tires, etc. http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/9...fex2551dk2.jpg http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/7...fex2552mj8.jpg http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/7...fex2554ko0.jpg |
There is one out there that had half the cabin chopped out and looks similar, :)

This project is a complete rebody, based on cars of Bonneville and Le Mans, with no parts of the original body still visible. It will have extended, round nose and long tapered boat tail and the complete roof is removed and replaced with airplane bubble canopy. Like I said, VERY similar in shape to this car. |
Sounds like a boat load of work for one person! If you are up to it, it would be very cool though, and I'm sure you could see amazing results.

I double dare you. :)

I am not that talented.
However this past weekend I was tasked with replacing the "B" pillar in a 2002 Blazer. The job came out very well and the owner was pleased with the aesthetics. (read...smooth welds and nearly undetectable paint) So perhasp this summer I will tackle the Metro and see if I can back halve a CRX or Probe hatch to it. Changing the rear outline and teardropping the form somewhat. Schultz |
AeroMetro
This is direction my Karmann Ghia will be going, although she'll be a slow electric, with limited range for 6-mole commute to town and back.---------------------- The chopped Metro,@ 75-mpg should see a little improvement with the bubble canopy, and other mods.------------------------ Get to it!

Phil, I had no idea you still had the Ghia ! We think alike ! I too have thought of modding a Ghia ( I'll have to create a post on the topic with images - I even created a digital, as well as scale model of the idea. Mine would be electric as well. ( I would hate to butcher an old classic Ghia though, so I have been thinking of a Mazda MX-3 instead. Also, an MX-3 is safer ( disc brakes, air bag etc ) A teardropped Ghia has a certain elegance to it that I think would be more 'socially acceptable' as a 'hot rod' sort of mod. O.K. Back on topic. |
