2021 Sienna and Venza: now hybrid-only

Toyota revealed the new Sienna and Venza yesterday. I didn't watch the event, but found the press releases afterward. Details:

2021 Venza:
-2.5L Dynamic Force 4-cylinder
-3 electric motors
-AWD only
-219 system HP (same powertrain as RAV4 Hybrid)
-40 MPG combined

2021 Sienna:
-2.5L Dynamic Force 4-cylinder
-2 electric motors/3 optional
-AWD optional on all trims
-243 system HP
-33 MPG combined

The jump in the Sienna's MPG is enormous; the current Sienna is rated 21 (2WD)/20 (AWD). That's a reduction from 5 gal/100 mi to 3 gal/100 mi.

The Venza is a big disappointment to me. It is simply a reskinned RAV4 for more money. Identical wheelbase and track with less cargo space.

I was hoping for something more similar to the old Venza. More of a lifted wagon like the Subaru Outback but with Toyota quality and hybrid fuel economy. The old Venza had a 109 in wheelbase (half way between the current RAV4 105.9 in and Highland 112.2 in)

No surprise at all. Well, maybe it would lead to the Sienna becoming more competitive on export markets.
