Installed my mpguino - Civic VX
 

Finally got it in! I used Posi-Taps to tap the VSS and injector wire near the ECU, then used the 12v constant and ground from my radio to provide power.

I considered myself a good mpg-er previously, but this adds a whole new level. It's very easy to see how some of my previous assumptions about engine load and speed were incorrect. For example, I can tell instantly when I drop out of lean burn and need to downshift on a slight hill.

While a good solder job is the best way to do it, I highly recommend Posi-Taps. They're secure, removable, and minimally intrusive.

I have it sitting in the hole where my clock delete plate was. Just need to make a little bracket, and possibly add a 4-pin Molex connector so I can take it out easily.

This is version 1.1 from Quezacotl... highly recommended. Shipping was fast and well packaged. He is now selling v1.2, which looks even better.

Note - I haven't calibrated it yet, but the default values on the Wiki seem to be pretty close. I'll dial it in on the next tank. I might have it slightly under report performance, so that I'm pleasantly surprised every time I fill up. Kinda like setting your clock 5 minutes fast so you're never late, ya know?

The bad news is that the injector signal is not calibrated. The vss is spot on, though!

Good news... it's actually under reporting. =) mpguino read 51.2 mpg, but actual fill revealed 54.4!

Where can I get a mpguino I just got a 1992 VX and want to set this up. Also I guess a vacuums gauge too right?

Can you help me figure out how to do it please?

A vacuum gauge isn't required, but would be a helpful fuel economy tool. I'd like to install one soon!

Here's a link to the MPGuiono wiki that has lots of information including vendors that sell complete units. A vacuum gauge is helpful too and can be bought for fairly cheap from any autoparts store or from amazon. They are fairly simple to install too.

Thanks ya'll for the tips. Focusing on the differed maintenance and much needed repairs fist. Then onto the fun stuff.

Yea the vacuum gauge prolly isn't that important, but I just like to measure stuff ;-) Just a little fun add on for my amusement really.
