Kammback question Daewoo Lanos

After looking at the many interesting ways to give mpg a boost I think I want to do a Kammback on my Daewoo Lanos. I have the SX 3 door with the little roof wing at the top of the back glass.
I looked at it yesterday thinking that I would have to remove it for this project.
Last night I used the aero template and found that the wing is inside of the outline and it actually appears to be at about the correct angle. I saved the shot of the car overlaid with the template and would like someone with experience to confirm that this would be OK to leave on and if it is give me an educated guess as to whether I can just use it as an attachment point for the Kammback.

Well I guess the photo will have to wait there is a post count minimum and I haven't got there yet.

Here's what I come up with for ya.

Big Version of Same Pic to Ogle

The green line is the AST2 shape, the red line is a 10° line for the bottom.

Looks like indeed the spoiler is within the shape.

Hope this helps you out.

That is perfect.
You used a different picture but it is the correct car.
Sweet I am glad that you came to the same conclusion and that I lined mine up the same way.
Thanks ChazInMT:D

Your savings will just be a function of how far back you push to the rear.
Nice project!:)

I am looking at the different ways of attaching the kammback now. One question I have though is, do the upper corners between the sides and the top need to be a sharp angle or do I continue the curve in the roofline?
I can take a picture to show what i mean.

You definitely want the corners to be radiused. It will be much more forgiving of any design imperfections, and will perform much better in a crosswind.

I have a 97 Toyota tercel 2door than I am thinking of putting a cammback and a drag wing off the trunk to help with MPG how do I graph the aerodynamic on my car like you did with this one.

Get a good profile pic of your car, find the "template" thread here on EM, and download Paint.net free software for Windows. Then it's just a matter of overlaying the template onto your car's photo. Match the highest point on the roof line (point of greatest camber) with the highest point on the template image. Make sure the template shape's wheels are also level on the ground.

Good luck... post your efforts on a thread as you go and guys will help you.

I used the online version that siefrob made from Aerohead's template.
In windblows 7 you can use the snipping tool to save the result or you can hit the print sceen button on your keyboard and paste the image into paint, word, etc...
