Student-Built Electric Car Charges In 10 Minutes : Gas 2.0

They charge it with massive juice, but still, go MIT.
It all starts somewhere.

The book The New Electric Vehicles talks about doing this with lead acid batteries back in the early '90's, not great for the battery pack but they used it for racing and it worked well, they could do a 50% charge in 10 minutes or so without raising the electrolyte temp more then a few degrees, they did this by charging a larger battery pack that then charged the smaller vehicle pack directly.
with their car you would need a 220 volt source that could supply 1,600 amps... a new house service is 200 amps... that is going to make your light dim a little!
the Myers NMG charges in 3 hours from a 20amp 120v outlet and gives you a 50 mile range, all this from a $30,000 vehicle that you can buy right now.

I just googled the NMG. Funky. Nice to see a micro-EV with a bit of styling to it. For me it is a hard sell because it is only a 1-seater... and 30k can buy a heck of a fuel efficient gas burner with 4 seats and AC. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker if buying 30k cars was the norm for me.

My 3-wheel 1 seater EV seems to have hit a big financial wall in CA. I got loans easily on my City-el in 2007 or 2008, but this year I can not do the same thing; because it is a 3-wheel vehicle. It does not have AC, power windows/locks/steering and so on so I wanted an EMC3 which does have them, but every bank or S & L around here refuse me flat.

The EMC3 is a 2 seater but that did not help. I guess I will just have to sweat it out.
