Kymco Quannon 150cc?
 

Anyone have any experience with one or has heard anything about them?

I'm being tempted to pick one up as my hopes of getting an S2000 seem to be fading more and more as time goes by.

Looks like a cool little sporty eco bike (rated @ 70mpg) that won't be hard on the budget ($3,000).

Wouldn't want to take it on any highways due to light weight (sub 300 lbs) and limited power (14 hp) but with plenty of country roads around my area it could be cool.

Well, no direct experience with this brand.

With 150 cc and rider weight no more than 180 lbs, the bike
should be able to keep up with non-highway traffic, on the flat
at least. :o

But, and its a big one, I've read too many horror stories about
off-brand bikes. You get what you pay for and very often
the cheapos are lacking in serious engineering and solid
manufacturing. They look good, but have a heart of stone. :(

A clock is standard equipment. I hope that's not for 1/4 mile
or 0-60 times. :rolleyes:

See if you can find any reviews in the legitimate motorcycling
media. :thumbup:

Buyer beware is the watch word(s).

If you want to spend $3000, you can do a lot better.

Buy a used Ninja 250 or CBR250 for the same or less and have the capability to ride everywhere.

Find a nice CBR250R used for close to the same price.

EFI with a cat, low emissions and a blast to ride anywhere.

For an "off-brand", Kymco is okay, being Taiwanese instead of mainland Chinese. This ain't your typical knock-off brand. Think of it more as the Hyundai of motorbikes.

A lot of riders swear by them and the 150cc has decent punch. I've ridden a sit-down scooter with the same motor, and it's pretty good and feels just as much a quality item as some Japanese (though, remember, if you're paying very little for the bike, you're not going to get the same quality as a much more expensive Japanese motorbike).

The big issue is it's a carburetted motor, so you're not going to get the efficiency of a 150cc EFI motor in city driving, though they're supposedly decently economical on the highway. If you can swing an EFI bike within your budget, that'll probably serve you better.

$3000 msrp. Maybe you can get it a little cheaper. If you really think you will ride a lot, you should stretch your budget for the Honda CBR250R. It has real cross country capabilities with a 93mph top speed and 17" wheels, the fuel injection needs no warm up, gets 70-85mpgUS, optional ABS if you ride in the rain. $4100.

I agree with most of the others, if you have $3K to spend, go for a CBR250 or a NInja 250. Well proven durabilty and capability and a much better value in my opinion.

I've been riding motorcycles and motorscooters for over 40 years. One of my scooters is a Kymco People 150cc. While Kymco is not well known in the US, it is not really an off brand, as they were founded in 1963 and their products are sold globally. Because they are major depriceators in the US, if I were buying a Kymco scooter, I would buy one used. Mine is 5 years old, has 5,000 miles on it, and I paid $600 USD for it. It is a very nice scooter for that price. If I were going to spend $3000 or so on a motorcycle or scooter, I woulod follow the advice of others who have posted here - consider a 250cc something, and buy it used to save money.

I like the bodywork of the Metro200i but now they are asking over $5000 for that machine.

Would maybe put 1,000 miles a year on it.
Wanted something a step up from a moped.

Found one with 2,400 miles on it for $1300 but looks like it has been droped. Left mirror looks to be glued back to the body.

Did see a "new" 2010 for $2,000 though. Will have to see how I feel in a few weeks and what my wifes plan is for my tax return. lol
