Liberator Fuel Saver

liberatorfuelsaver.com

It saddens me to watch a Nascar driver endorse a product that does little to nothing to improve mpg. The extraordinary claims make it unbelievable. Question is, why don't they work?

FWIW I searched for Liberator and got no results on the site. They claim it is different than the Tornado.

Maybe he really doesn't know it's BS?
Much more likely the money is more important that any integrity he might have had...

oooo a SWUMBLE that pushes air into the engine. So you put this thing into the intake tract somewhere and it says it will increase the velocity of the air coming in?

So to increase the velocity of a fixed volume of air we add some restriction (the turbulence or "swumble" this gizmo causes) Bernoulli's principle tells us what happens when air travels over/around/through a restriction we get a velocity increase and a pressure reduction.

Same volume or air coming in through a restriction is not going to be as easy for the higher pressure ambent air to push into the engine. so the engine will be "sucking" against the drag of the restriction. Good news is that to make up for this restriction we can just open the throttle a bit more and the engine will just squirt the right amount of fuel anyway.

Another bit of luck for this thing is the little SWUMBLE makers look small, so it wont do much and what little it does do will be undone by intake valves and that bit of the intake tract down the line from this thing.

At least it has a slight chance of being better than the tornado. Why do I say this since it is placed after the Throttle Body (TB) so it will not have the MAF screen and throttle plate to clean the air flow. Also if installed before the MAF it might not see all the air and mess up the fueling.

To think instead of installing a larger ported TB to help remove a restriction and increase VE (volumetric efficiency) I should have just plugged the intake to create a restriction.

If anyone would want this tested out you can order me one and I can post raw MAF, fuel trims, and almost any other data you would want. All you have to do is pay shipping since the posted price for a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix is $0.

calculated load and VE

yes
calculated load with volumetric efficiency

will show that the SNAKE OIL does not "improve" anything .

MAF values with fuel trim can show similar results or not,
as i think some cylinders will be lean and some rich , using that JUNK ,
total fuel trims will not change much MAF will be higher .
http://www.autoservicetech.com/vecalculator.html
but calculated load with VE under the same conditions with and without the HOAX installed would be easier to see

i would use the ATS Escan VE test screen , but the link above will be good for an
A - B comparison
imho

This won't do much on port injection as factory do a lot of engineering on intake manifold for even distribution .
It probably would help on TB systems to distribute fuel in the manifold better. Just like they use heaters on some to atomize the fuel droplets .

not really sure it is gonna help on tbi, at least not enough to use a word like "probably".

Well, didn't say how much it would help .

TB systems have big problem of puddling, just like carb manifolds so here it should help some as its a wet system unlike port injection which is dry and can be optimized much easier for even A/F across cylinders .

Emailed Company To Test out Product

Hey guys, I actually just emailed the company and they are shipping me one for free so I can test it out. I have an ultragauge set up so I can see if there really is a difference. My best mpg to date is 29mpg. So you will have a completely unbiased test coming up soon.

...selling your soul to the Devil? Money has a way of doing that.

(do I hear Charlie Daniels playing "Devil Went Down to Georgia" in the background?)
