91 Crx si

Hello everyone,

I have always been interested in high mpg and since I picked up a new daily I figured now would be a good time to learn more about it. I have another Crx that has a b18a1 swap with a best of 43 mpg; stock b18 with i/h/e, and a chip from xenocron (before chipping the ecu I could get 41 mpg).

The new daily is bone stock, which gives me a pretty good platform to work with. As of now my plans are to find some lightweight rims and lrr tires. I typically drive about 300 miles a week with 250 of those being highway miles. Once I can I'll post some pictures.

Civic VX/HX wheels are a great choice.

HX is better in some eye's because the 14" offers better LRR tire choices.
Best of luck, love a clean original Si.

Do you know how much those rims weigh? I was looking into the rpf1 rims since I also want rims that look good but I'm not sure if there's a better/lighter option

Welcome! Good to see more CRX's joining up. And, in the spirit of saving money, I offer this-

There have been a few threads around here about it, but I will restate. Don't worry about wheel weight if you're not racing. It really doesn't make a big difference (since aero is King)! If you're going for MPG, go get some cheap steelies, add smooth wheel covers and throw on some LRR tires.

I'm running 15x7 Chevy Cobalt steelies with coroplast covers on my D16 EG HB and I see high 40's on the freeway doing 65ish.

That's true,I didn't see any real difference between my HF steelies and VXs,except of course that VXs look awesome sprayed white on a red CRX.

In that case, have you considered things like VW "teardrop" wheels? They would look cool, and help your aero/mpg! I got a set for $40 I'm going to use with winter tires.
