Looking For Cheap Insight
 

Few dings, few paint chips is great.

Dead IMA battery is good too.

Prefer 5 speed model.

Something that moves under it's own power is good.

Willing to drive / fly a bit if the price is right.

Budget of 1500 or so, hoping to get one on the road this summer instead of racking up miles on the wagon.

$1500's kind of pricey. Most cheap insight goes for about two cents...

I know of a silver 5 speed with good crapes on both sides, about 180,000 miles and the second gear grind for $2,000. I think there's plenty leeway to get the price down because of the exterior damage. It's either in NY or the (Midwest?) Wisconsin area.

I think all the gen 1 are over priced for what you get.

Plan to keep the Sube. Just don't want to put ~20k miles on it this summer.

I still think that an Insight would make a great boat tail for a Subaru! :D

If you are willing to give up the moves under its own power there is one in IA for around $1750, likely possible to get it for less, turns over won't start, could be anything under the sun but a replacement motor from an auto is relatively cheap so might be an option anyway.

How much we talking for a whole motor? 500 or 1500?

There's one near me for like 200 or 300. They have no value to anyone but an insight owner, so demand is lower than even the prius engines.
