Mac users : I need a good FREE antivirus

Hello Mac users,
I downloaded "MacKeeper" antivirus, and was quickly flooded with junk from that company, eventhough i deleted their software.
I have adds popping up every time i get online from them, and it's getting really annoying.

I am looking for a good FREE antivirus for Mac ( i paid enough for this thing ! I was given the crap story that Macs get less viruses, but then i find out that if you bank online with a Mac, you still need antivirus .)

So you guys are some of the brightest people i know of, and i trust people on this site more than some offshoot forum.

What do you guys recommend ?

I use iAntiVirus. Make sure you have the lastest Snow Leapord update 10.8.6 they fixed a trojan that could install without you clicking on it like the Adobe one.

A qualified source recommended Avast! for me, but I've got Windows. They have a Mac version too; maybe it would be just as good.

I suggest you check out SecurityNewsDaily.com then search Mac Antivirus. They have good reviews, Avast is not listed. Also the new trojan is called "Flashback" or "Flashfake", they(SND) call it "a drive-by download". So it's really really important to have the latest Mac security update on SnowLeopard or Lion.

I've had very good luck with Mac. I use either Chrome or Firefox, Safari has issues.

I used to code windows and they had holes big enough to dive a semi through:) But then I stopped coding back at XP so I'm not sure what current windows code looks like.

Good Luck, I'm off to continue my work on TinyAeroTrailer:)

I use a iMac, and I had tried ClamAV but I found it (seemed?) to be taking too much CPU time. I now run neekid -- and I have yet to get any malware. I've been using this Mac since 2008, and zero virii.
