Last fill up every.... put me at number 1

So I went to update my fuel log with what will probably end up being my last fill up ever on this car and low and behold it put me at number 1..... 90 day average 82.15mpg, which puts it at tops for Hybrid, gas and diesel. Wow I love the insight....

but...

It will probably be the last fill ever for any personal car as I'll be getting a leaf soon. The cost of having a family car (MDX) and a commuter car (insight), although resonable is still a lot. I had planned on keeping them 5 years and then looking for an electric but I double and tripple checked the numbers and couldn't resist doing it now.

So the new plan is in 4-5 years if the leaf fits the bill and is good enough on range keep it and convince the wife to go electric from her prius.

The insight will probably end up staying in the family as my aunt is in need of a car. That will at least allow me to borrow it if work ever sends me on a 600km training trip.

Now you'll have to keep it to reclaim the title.

.... and I'm very jealous of your leaf lease rates. I know it varries from state to state but I see them as low as $200 a month sometimes. It's more than double that up here. I've also seen used 2011s going for less than $12000. The cheapest used here was $21000, private sale or $25000 from a dealer.

There's also very little incentive for charging stations here, and almost 0 fast chargers. I've been trying to get a charger at work for a while in anticipation, I have 120v so it's good for emergency but I can't even get it offical with a sign at a spot. And I work for the government...

The only 2 DC fast chargers in Ontario were just built (or at least advertised) in the last year and are both less than 5 miles from my work, Nissan Canada and Mitsubishi Canada. That's what is allowing me to go electric with a 90mile round trip, 84miles of range and a winter safety net of DC fast charging.

I was lazy for the last 2/3s of the last tank. I had been around an 89 avg on the gauge. Which was disapointing since I had added a full underbelly vs rear only, I think that air is catching it at the front wheel well. I was also enjoying some higher speeds and windows down, it's been pretty hot here.

The one advantage I can really see with the leaf is after a long day not feeling like I always have to conserve. A downside is I still want to do eco mods but there will be $0 pay back. I have to flip my way of thinking and justify it as buying extended range LOL. I've already been eyeing light weight wheels. Stock is 21lbs (16s) and I can go as light as 12.4 for $159 each or 15lbs for $129 or 16lbs for $112. Winters will be 13.5lbs on 15in michelin xice, those should be good to offset heater use.

Speaking of heaters, being in canada (until the soul ev comes out) the leaf because of the heat pump is really the only EV I could have considered shy of Tesla. I really wanted a Focus EV but the poorest heater or any and smaller back seat was a turn off, then I really wanted a spark EV but they only sell to fleets here. The leaf was my third choice.
