Metro hood modification?
So, I was curious... I haven't yet seen anyone modify the hood of their metro, but it seems like a natural.
Something like this but slippier: http://www.steeda.com/products/_high..._cowl_hood.jpg the benefits: 1. Exhaust engine heat over the windshield through the gap. Might compensate for a blocked grill. 2.a) Aerodynamically slippier? might help smooth air flow over the windshield b) Also takes the windshield wipers out of the equation Any examples? Whaddya think? okay this is more in line with what I am thinking of: http://bp2.blogger.com/_FoXyvaPSnVk/...Q/s400/DCH.JPG ignore the bulge and the nonfunctional intake and look at the hood/windshield intersection. See any wipers? nicely hidden away. Dunno how yould do it though... |
Those hoods actually force air into the engine bay from the base of the windshield. The point where the hood meets the windshield is a high pressure area, which is why the inlet for the HVAC system is located there. To improve aero, the angle of the hood and windshield would have to be pretty close to each other, so achieving that isn't likely on 99% of cars out there. You're better off using a hood vented at the front, redirecting engine bay air from under the car to over it.
