Metro Suspension Parts
 

I'm thinking of buying a Metro soon, but have a few questions. Where can I find more performance related suspension parts, like stiffer shorter springs, sway bars, etc? I want to get the best mpg's out of the engine, but want a nice lowered sporty suspension. Is this possible?

You might have better luck if you'd get a Honda CRX.

I lowered my 97 on Intrax springs. They were pretty nice, but you get the most benefit handling wise from swapping out the struts. I liked Bilsteins. Be careful, I cracked my steering rack from hard cornering. I would also suggest replacing any tired rubber bushings with polyurethane, especially the sway bar bushings. Prothane and summit racing should have everything you need, but you'll have to dig around to find the right sizes and shapes. There isn't a kit that I know of. Make sure your Metro has solid lower control arm mounts, they tend to rust there. Best of luck to you, if you do it right you'll have a really fun ride. My Metro was one of the best handling cars I've ever owned when I was done with it.

The CRX would be great, but unfortunately I need a back seat. Maybe a civic CX, HX or VX?

Thanks JJW & bbjsw10, good info. That helps me do some more digging. May still go with a Honda, but the Metro's are much cheaper to buy in Colorado. Have also been trying to get ideas on a high mpg small awd vehicle to better deal with the snow. I travel a lot in the mountains for work.

The Subaru Justy was similar to the Metro (maybe even one of the clones?)
They were available as 4x4 and for awhile I considered using one as a platform for a 4x4 Metro.

Hee, hee. I know it won't be fast, but I would really be happy if it handled pretty well around corners. Those 2 lanes in the Rockies can be fun! :cool:

The suzuki swift is a metro clone and they made a GT that probably has some interchangeable suspension parts with a normal metro.
