Mirror Delete / Interior Mirror Options
 

My wife and I were in Babys R' Us yesterday, and I found a couple things I found to be interesting... Mirrors designed for keeping an eye on your baby in the back seat. The neat thing, they are adjustable, and are made for sticking to your windows! Exactly what I was looking for earlier this year...

This model is a round convex mirror with a suction cup. It looks like it would do a pretty good job. I didn't measure it's size, but it seemed kind of small for doing the job of replacing an external mirror. PRICE: $3.99USD

This model actually came with TWO LANDSCAPE MIRRORS (so you don't get the sun reflected into your eyes like my current drivers side supplement), and each of the mirrors has TWO mounting options, a suction cup OR a visor clip! PRICE: $4.99USD

I got the dual landsmape mirrors. They are convex, but more landscape, like if you took the top and bottom off a circular convex mirror. They are about 3 3/4 inches wide, and should do a good job at filling in my blind spots. I will update with new pictures once I get them "installed"...

I am about to use 3" circle ones...

I will post when I am done... removing both mirrors (Law doesnt state wheather it is inside or outside)

Those baby mirrors look like a good find! My interior right side convex mirror is too small.

I have tried both of those mirrors and they do work. In the end, they didn't "fit" my final setup, so they fell out of favor.

Do you have pictures of the visor clips for the "landscape" mirrors? I might go down to the store and buy a set of those. I got one that stuck to the windshield, but it fell off way too much so I got rid of it.

I put them in for my drive to work this morning. I was hoping to stick them to my windshield, but the A-Pillar blocks too much of the mirror, so I tried the inside of the door windows, but the mirrors don't bend far enough... so I used the visors to put them up. They work pretty well. I will have to adjust them some more, and find them a bit more permanent home than on my visors.
I didn't delete the exterior mirrors, I have a pair of mirrors I already installed for blind spot use (that don't adjust), and now these... I have so many mirrors I am starting to feel like a trucker! They are keepers in my book, just need a better location.
Another consideration to take into account is air flow around the mirrors. The ones I installed initially are really low, just inside the exterior mirrors, and they prevent the windshield defroster from defrosting the area of the drivers side door that you look through to see the exterior mirror. Something to keep in mind for those in colder regions than Alabama.

Yeah, I started to realize the air flow issue last week, when I could't get my driver side window to de-fog... I can get the fog thinned down enough to see through it though.

Just wondering if you ever got any pictures of the mirror mounts?

Here are a couple pictures of the current setup. These just clip onto the visor. I originally had the passengers side one on the passengers side visor, but the viewing angle was pretty lousy, so it winds up on the drivers side. Although you can't see in these pictures because I am in the driveway, but they do a pretty good job of filling in the blind spots.

Drivers side. You can see the DS mirror deflector I made from an old campaign sign. The interior mirror works pretty well, but it's not adjustable, and it reflects the sun into my eyes if it's anywhere behind me. The new mirrors do a pretty good job of filling in the blind spots.

Passengers side. The PS exterior mirror is still waiting for a mirror deflector to match the DS. I am going to remove the junky mirror on the inside of the PS door, since it basically does nothing useful even in its best position. I think this is about the right position for the new mirror.

Looks cool! Do you need to drive with the visor down all the time then?
