Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo configuration, It Works Great!

I have the speed pulse set to 16,404 and on a ten mile drive I can't see a difference between the MPGuinio and the odometer on the car. It has 450cc injectors and is a sequential injected 2.0litre engine turbocharged. I've tried to figure the microsec for the 450cc and get the mileage numbers displayed to somewhat resemble what I've been getting for mileage on this car. Right now I have it set at 128,424,660. If anyone could figure this and see what it should be I would appreciate it. I built the MPGuinio and got it to program and it works great and I've been trying all afternoon to figure out what the correct number will be. Duh, Full Moon I guess!

I built a Freeduinio and used the blue display with the version 070 code. The backlight times out perfectly. I put the display in a Radio Shack 4x2x1 box and used the tactile switches with the little post sticking up (pn 275-003) so that they stick up on the top of the display box. I put the Freduinio and the small circuit board for the input circuits in small plastic boxes and put them in the dash under the steering column.

Many, Many thanks to you guys who worked this out to where it could be built by virtually anyone. I printed out the entire thread and hauled it around with me for days reading and re-reading exactly what you fellows did.

Thanks,
Mark Riley

For pre-'87 Stations: There are 2 850cc/min injectors firing sequentially (alternately) in the throttle body, giving a value of 133,602,769 microseconds/gal (this is what I'm currently using and it's very close).

So for 6 450cc/min injectors firing sequentially, try a value of 84,120,262 microseconds/gal and see what happens...

Thanks, but only 4 injectors on 2 litre

There are only 4 injectors on the 2 litre 4G63 engine. If the number for 6 is 84120262 then that would make 4 come out at 126180393 I think. I have 128424660 in it now. A slightly smaller number will make it show less mpg than it currently is showing. I think that will be closer to what I have been getting, around town in the low 20's and on the highway between 70-85 in the 35-36 mpg range.

I don't know if I was being diplexic yesterday or what. I couldn't come up with anything even close to correct numbers. Even with it not reading correctly, I can see that I haven't been driving "right" around town. I'll have to make some aero changes to see if I can't pickup the highway numbers.
Last Friday I drove down to a shop in Charlotte to tune a Honda and did the 89 miles in 84 minutes. Drove a few miles in Charlotte at 35-45 and then came back to my shop. The return trip starting at 4:00 pm took almost 2 hours. Checked mileage on that tank and it did 35.2 for the trip. 194 miles and 5.51 gallons. Now with the MPGuinio on it I should do a little better.

I'm not to worried or concerned about it giving me the "exactly perfect" number as it still comes down to the long term numbers from filling it at the pump time after time. What I'm seeing is a fantastic device to let me, help me, adjust the way I drive to allow myself to increase my gas mileage. I think it would allow you to see the differences from "aero" changes easier and quicker than having to drive it for a few weeks to see if it made a difference.

Many Thanks, I'll give it a try in a few minutes

Mark

Yep - you're right...

correction to vss pulse number

After test of 56.2 miles the MPGinio was showing 55.51 miles. So I've changed the vss pulse number to 16202 from 16404. As near as I could tell that was a 1.024% difference. Pretty close. Filled it up, 156 miles 5.8 gallons almost all in short trips in town. Makes it about 26.9 mpg. That's the best this turbo Eclipse has ever done for city type driving.

The tank mileage on the MPGuinio was showing 27.2 so I'm going to leave the fuel number alone for a few more fill ups to see how it does. Road trip Friday so that will tell a little better.

MPGuinio Rocks,

Hey, your in Greensboro too, small world.

Let's get up, I've got a mpguino in 300zx i'm trying to calibrate.

Stop by and we can compare the MPGuinio's. I'm assembling a MPIguinio for a smaller package. 941 S Chapman St. About anytime. I'm still here building a Megasquirt ecu to put on a 2.3 Ford turbo engine in a '34 Ford Coupe. I've just about finished it but I'm going home now. The coupe will be here in the morning for wiring and tuning.

My FWD 91 TSI has 780cc injectors in it... I am new to this but I would like to learn.

Is there any further info on this car?
