Thor Electric Class 8 Truck

The aerodynamics of this thing are even worse than the Tesla truck. What are these people thinking of? The cab is much narrower than the trailer! Where do they think all that air is going?

Needs more Darth Vader.

Why does it have a grill? To cool the batteries on the side? Why doesn't it have a bumper? Why are they are asking $100,000 more than Tesla for the same 300-mile range.

The electric motor probably gets really hot so it needs a grille.

All the news articles are saying "uh oh, Tesla's getting beat to the punch, this truck is coming out 1 year earlier."

But they have 17 employees? I mean, Tesla's already having production issues with thousands of employees, how exactly is that comparable to a tiny shop hand-building trucks?

How about "I can have a tractor with a 300-mile range today for $250,000, or wait one year and have a 300-mile Tesla for $150,000."

The truck market is much more than the 100,000 Class 8 trucks sold every year. There are the numerous specialty vehicles that are used in more local vocations and that are often custom to those needs. That is what Thor is shooting for. This truck is just a way to "photo bomb" Tesla. Basically riding their marketing coat tails for free.

Their main thrust is to put together an engineering/technical team that can service the custom electric vocational market not so much compete with the likes of Tesla. If a customer needs a few hundred or a thousand unit types, Thor can fill that. If you need tens of thousands, call a larger manufacturer.

Don't know how I missed this tread the first time around.

Discovered this video today.

Thor Wants to Throw Down an Electric Hammer on Tesla

Quote:
Start-up Thor wants to beat Tesla to the market with electric semi-trucks. Thor's custom models are due in 2019 and meant for short hauls.
Best part of the video is the 1918 Walker electric delivery truck just before the 5:00 mark.

Punchable face.

That's a lot of tiny holes for something that will be subject to vandalism.
