screen for grill blocks

I know it has probably been covered before, but would a grill block made of screen be effective. It seems like it would still allow for some airflow at city speeds while still blocking the air at highway speeds. Has anyone ever tried this?

I'm just curious. I don't want to waste my time or money.

I saw someone do this for an underbody panel. They also painted it to make it even more solid. They said it was working for them, but I'm not sure how well a screen will be at grille blocking. You'd have to make sure it's stiff enough not to become a parachute.
