Trouble code

This morning I got a code p0340 on my Dakota. Cam positioning sensor. Shifts ruff but seems to be getting better mpg. Is this something that needs immediate attention, or can I live with the shifting and reap the mugs.

I would fix it. It could hurt the engine. It shouldn't be an expensive part and its an easy fix. just an electrical sensor. $15 + shipping from Rockauto.
