My 2007 Ford Ranger stock 33 mpg

Just picked up my (new to me) 2007 Ranger supercab 5spd 4cyl and averaged 33mpg from South Carolina back to Detroit. What are the initial ideas to improve economy even further I should look into off the bat?

Don't drive so far.

glad you got your truck back to detroit, best savings are done tru your foot easy on the gas and keep your top speed on the down low. How fast were you going?? being a pickup I would definely be thing of some kind of bed cover. are you using the truck for work or just transportation?

Just using the truck for transportation. Yes, I plan to get a bed cover right away. I was traveling about 60-65 for the trip.

You could have picked up a roll of duct tape and found big boxes in recycling dumpsters and made yourself a temporary tonneau cover. But that would have just helped that long highway trip. This would be a good read. http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...neau-1494.html

just surfing around this site will land you plenty of good ideas. I've been looking for a few weeks and still finding more. tire pressure is a great low cost tip.

33 MPG without mods? I'm jealous.

The results of a number of mods are in my thread titled "Modding an 06 Canyon". Google will find it if this link doesn't work: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...yon-17070.html

Damn, 33mpg in a truck is not bad anyway you look at it... Also, if 33mpg is your starting point, I'm sure you can get even better. GL!!!

Made the topper from plywood. Details in the thread linked earlier: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...yon-17070.html
