My in car review of my 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage SE 5spd. In depth video.
Hi all,
Took some time to do a review while on a long drive today. So many mirage reviews are negative done by magazines and other media outlets being paid for their "reviews" This is my honest take on the car. It's 3 parts but good quality 1080p at 60fps. For anyone possibly thinking of a mirage, check it out. Part 1 and 2 are behind the wheel and part 3 is interior/engine. Part 1 https://youtu.be/NWNlrdFyA9I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWNlrdFyA9I Part 2 https://youtu.be/tRxl-Osh4Zk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRxl-Osh4Zk Part 3 https://youtu.be/rzN37QO39K4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzN37QO39K4 |
Cool!
I'd recommend changing the first 2 videos thumbnail images to a shot of the outside of the car, even using a still image. It'll help with views. Watching now... |

Oh. Ha!
I'm not sure how detailed the phone interface is for changing video settings. I suspect it's similar to the desktop: Quote:

FYI for others reading this:
I just watched all 3 segments. Most people just casually interested in the Mirage won't go that deep, but for anyone actually considering one, it's a comprehensive look at the car's strengths & weaknesses, all while keeping the criticism in context considering it's a $10,500 car with a surprising amount of features. EcoModders will appreciate the focus on its fuel economy capability (50+ MPG all day long in Pryme's typical driving environment, with little hypermiling effort.) It's not a fanboi rave. It's a dispassionate, non-snarky look at the vehicle from someone who carefully weighed its pros & cons. That's more than you can say about the typical auto journo reviews the car has received. Thumbs up! |

With that said, I do practice some basic hypermiling techniques daily. I didn't in the video but I do coast as far as I can either in neutral or 5th to stop lights and signs if possible and I do attempt a little P&G where I can. I also try to accelerate and brake slowly and short shift as well. |
I actually think it's good that you showed "non-hypermiling" results in the video, though. It gives "regular" folks an idea of what the car can do without inflating their expectations.
Of course, the 75 mph interstate commuters won't see 50+ mpg, but that's another story. |
I rented one of these lunchboxes and drove in a 75 MPH zone.
I was not comfortable taking it seventy-five, but that probably has more to do with being broke and I almost never drive that fast. Everybody here seems to like them, but I was never impressed. I will try to watch the videos after work, but how would you rate it on a scale of zero to infinity? Sorry, zero to ten. |

EDIT: also, as a rental, you were stuck with the CVT. Score another point against "confidence-inspiring". |

I've owned a car capable of about 180 and I'd feel safer in that at 180 than a mirage at 110. I'd never take the Mirage that fast though. I'd rate the Mirage about a 9 taking into consideration what it is and what it is not. Small details I feel they could have done with little to no cost would be hiding the Mic and GPS box from plain view and maybe painting the engine bay for some added protection from rust and even grease etc. Also the back up camera does glitch sometimes like stutters a little etc. |
