My first Aero mod :)

Just a basic air dam, with what I had around.
You can see how bad the underside is for turbulance in my before picture. This should make a noticeable difference. :)

If you can have an observer in a pace car, they might confirm that they are bending backward in the air flow. Connecting the lower corners might help.

That's as crude as they come, I'm going to consider this first effort as just a "mock-up" to see how things fit.

Go to the link in my signature to see how I evolved from plastic lawn edging to conveyor belt material.

My first front chin spoiler was out of cardboard so I could cut some sheet metal some 35 years ago.

Have fun with it.

Be warned, some degenerates like to destroy other people's property by backing their vehicle into yours and attempting to destroy your creation.

These people might be drunks, bad drivers or conformist which just cannot stand anyone trying to do something different, it threatens them in someway.

Just think of all the lawn gnome fatalities/vandalism attacks, the haters are going to hate.

Long live the chin spoilers and lawn gnomes.:D

Sad but oh so true.

Yeah this was just what I had around without spending a dime. But I'm going to buy some of that plastic, The Donkey CRX used on his civic.

I'm sure with the current appearance of my car some people might think it's funny to wreck it. Hopefully some day it will look cool and people will respect my mods.

Oh, for heaven's sake--if it works, it works; who cares what it looks like or if it's up to some arbitrary "standard"? The OP clearly doesn't intend this to be a "mock-up" and appears to be rightly proud of what he's done (which, remember, 99.99% of drivers don't have the inclination/mindset/knowledge/guts to do to their cars). As long as he is happy with it and it does its job, there's no reason to start heaping disdain on what he made, and one could argue that the fact he did it with what he had laying around and didn't go out and buy more materials (consuming more resources at greater cost) is more in keeping with the spirit of this site than the most professional-looking mod.

Drunks probably confuse chin spoilers with lawn gnomes' beards.

I think kach22i was just pointing out that it could easily be improved upon. I agree that in general we should all be supportive of any aeromods, especially if it's someone new. Lets all encourage each other, and in doing so we can inform each other of all the information that's in the forum. There is so much information here, I really appreciate when someone suggests a post to look at. Saves me lots of time searching through.

I've noticed a considerable drop in wind noise in my car with this simple air dam. I like it! And I can't wait until I can replace it with something even better. :D

I saw it as constructive criticism, not an attack. The first step is the hardest, but once you've made one mod, you're getting the benefits (and the looks), but you always have to think of the benefits you aren't getting- so every mod is a work in progress.

Which reminds me, the bottom of my grille block came loose months ago and I still need to fix it. :(

I think what kach22i was talking about was after you\'ve poured blood sweat and tears into it. Still, I encourage you to do better.

Last time I was in Goodwill, I saw rolls of lawn edging. Don\'t pay new prices if you don\'t have to.
