my TIGRA AERO PROJECT

ok boys.

I go to to describe the work on my car.

First, the car is an Opel tigra, year 1996
It is a little coupè, wit only 1604mm of length.

this is a profile of original car

and this below, it is the final solution (without the wheels), but my girlfriends does not want :(

My mods include:

1) ugly rear underbody extractor
2) fuel tank area covered with polycarbonate ( the exahust line is not covered)
3) front and rear wheel air deflector: the front deflector, deviate the airflow over the horizontal arm
4) grill block: this use three guideline bearing with manual positioning.
5) I do not know what name to give him, I call it: wheel flow stabilizer (WFS).
I is necessary to study it for a good performance.

A lot problem, it come from the rear suspension axle becouse it is exposed to airflow; I have an idea for problem resolution, but any advice is appreciated ;)
Other problem come from the engine undercover not present.

below some pictures:

first three pictures refers at original car (rear car)

In red , the final profile

the idea came from looking the underbody airflow of mercedess SLR
Note the air flow in to the rear wheel, wich cause turbolence (in the slr the flow it is used for brake ventilation)

My friend has an engine undercover Audi, but I discovered it :(

Looks like you are off to a great start.
Looking forward to your results.

How are you keeping track of your fuel mileage ? Do you have a Scanguage ?

fabrio. 03-23-2008 01:20 PM

this is the biggest problem: i do not have any fuel meters.
Thi is for me an atypical case: I am generally precise and meticulous, and for engine mods Always I use the tools needed , but in this case...:(

fabrio. 03-23-2008 02:16 PM

the grill block :

I have used, PVC element for the block, and three sliding guide anchored to the front frame.

http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4214/p1010664yf1.jpg

in the future I will use an electric motor for management grill block opening, or I replacement him with other mechanisme.

an other mod is the replacement of the original windscreen wiper
