I'm thinking about giving half the money saved at the pump from June 1st 2009 to September 30th 2009 with megane. These will be shared equally between ecomodder.com and cleanmpg.com.

At September 18th 2009, I filled 5 times :
(sorry for the metric/European figures;) - may upgrade the quote to a table later)
%saved is compared to the 6.7L/100 combined.

By ecodriving until the end of September I should increase this, but I think I do need enough support from all of you. To urge you to support me, I propose to add 1€ per postcard I'll receive by postal mail, limited to the total amount of money saved. To have my postal address, send me a private message. Indicate me on the postcard to which site you want the 1€ to be given, else I'll share it between both sites.

I'll update this 1st post regularly with up-to-date numbers.
Currently, at September 19th 2009 :

• the odometer is over 80km (50mi) and the guessgauge is at Full
• "ecodriving" amount to be redistributed to each site : 55.45€ (81.64$ at 1.4723$/€).
• 8 postcards already received :) so 8€ to share.

This is the strangest idea I've seen in a while, but I'm sure you'll receive a postcard from ecomodder :thumbup:

1st week update
 

Currently at 1367.3 km (849.8 mi) and the pessimistic interpretation of the guessgauge tells 48 L (12.7 ga), so 3.51 L/100 (66.9 mpg) and a 48% saving, ie 26€ to share.

I received 10 promises of postcard, which may be 10 additional € to share.
I never thought I would receive so much so quickly, thanks a lot :cool:
Always waiting for the 1st one in the mailbox, but the closer comes from 1250 mi...

1st tank update
 

Filled up this morning :

• metric : 56.87L / 1669.6km = 3.406L/100 (90.6gCO2/km) ie 49.2% saving
• US : 1037.7mi / 15.03ga = 69.05mpg ie EPA+96.7%

This tank cost 62.10€. At 3.406L/100 instead of 6.7L/100 I saved 60.05€ (at 1.4217$/€ this is around 85.37$), so 30.03€ (42.69$) to share.

I received 2 postcards, so 2€ to share.
They are both beautiful :cool: Once again, thanks a lot :)

Next tank goal :

• 1054.2mi so last 4 tanks average is over 1000mi
• 70.3mpg so CO2 emission is under 89g/km (rating of Prius III ;))

...please pardon the 'newbie' question, but what the heck is a postcard as used in the contexts above?

From Wikipedia :
Both received postcards have a beautiful landscape picture printed on them :)
The 1st received yesterday is sunny (yesterday was the hotter day in France since years...) while the 2nd one received today is misty (today's temps were much cooler :cool:).

Sorry for the silence, too much free time ;)

I had to let megane at the mechanic during a few days because the engine was staying on even when I had remove the keys... this is certainly the worse engine failure when you are trying to keep it on as few as possible.

Currently, at September 14th 2009, the odometer is at 1428.8km (888.0mi) and the pessimistic reading of the guessgauge is at 52L (13.74ga) so 3.64L/100 (64.6mpg) ie around 44L (11.5ga) saved and 44€ (11€ to each site).

I had to do several days of city driving and the traffic jams are back again :( I will not be able to reach 1700 km with the current tank in the aim to achieve an average of 1000 mi per tank for the last 4 tanks, but I'll achieve a 3rd kilo-tank :) I will also have to do other city driving before the end of the month and I may have to travel 500km (300mi) on highway.

During last 2 weeks I received 3 additional postcards :) thanks again. I have 6 postcards already received so 6€ to share.

I filled-up yesterday :
1660.3km (1031.9mi) with 58.67L (15.50ga) ie 3.534L/100 (66.57mpg).
This is my 2nd longest tank and my 2nd best mpg.

I did exactly the minimum distance to achieve an average of 1600km (994.4mi) for the last 4 tanks. As I consumed 232.27L (61.37ga) I achieved 3.629L/100 (64.81mpg) ie 45.83% saved (84.61% over EPA).

Even if I missed the 1000mi/tank average by 22.4mi (36.0km) I'm satisfied to have limited the consequences of city driving & traffic jam from these last weeks.

During last week I received 2 additional postcards :) thanks again. I have 8 postcards already received so 8€ to share.

Oops, didn't updated the thread...

I added October-December period to the initial June-September. From my log I saved 361.76€, corresponding to 522.81$ (ie an average of 1.4452$/€). A quarter was for EM.com and another quarter for CMPG.com.

For received postcard, I added 7€ to EM.com and 6€ to CMPG.com, ie totals of 145.15$ and 142.26$ respectively for EM.com and CMPG.com.

I don't think about doing another donation to EM.com or CMPG.com this year, but I'm always happy to receive postcard ;)

I will not reach 10% saving this year compared to last year, but I stretched my 2009 longest tank from 1037.7mi (1669.6km) to 1058.7mi (1703.4km) already and I should reach 1118.7mi (1800km) in a few days :)

I should update my megane thread this week-end with the last small improvements and my first not aero mod (I have to ask someone more competent than I'm about electricity to do it cleanly so I can verify that my mod also works when the car is rolling).
