New To This

Been looking around this forum for awhile but have been looking for gas saver car for awhile. Just bought a 01 Civic DX. Could not find the other trim levels that have not been souped up by some teenager. Looking to buy a scangauge or a ultragauge in the near future. Anyone have both for a good comparison? I work a second shift now so the traffic does not affect my driving style as much as it used to in the rush. Ive got my 2000 1500gmc from 18mpg to 20 by not having to fight it. Thanks for all the info on this site its great!

They're similar.

The UltraGauge is considerably cheaper, yet gives more displayed values at the same time (6 instead of 4) and you can go through 3 sets of 6 displayed measurements easily.
On the scangauge you have to wade through the possible measurements to change what gets displayed.

Personal preference, but to me the UltraGause looks better - unfortunately it only does miles and gallons, no metric.

Welcome to the site. Instrumentation is a great place to start. Either the SG (II or E) or the UG will be a good first step to getting better mileage.

Thanks for the tips. Been reading and it doesnt look like I can go wrong with either gauge. But I think I will start with the cheaper considering all its good reviews. Any1 know what I can expect to get from the 01 civic dx? Its in the shop getting timing belts and water pump due to mileage so I have not been able to drive it yet:(

40 mpg shouldn\'t be too hard. It really depends how far you are willing to go. A big factor is weather you have a manual or auto trans too.

Congrats on the gas saving purchase!

Welcome to the forums! I personally have a Scangauge II, but that\';s just because I like the Xgauge features :D

The car has a manual trans in it. I looked at alot of better car\'s overall but they did not have manual trans. I even started thinking about getting one of them and converting to manual but I stumbled upon this find.

Ive read over alot of forums on the U/g and S/g but have yet to see one where 1 person owns both. I think I will get both because I can use either one I like most and my wife can use the other lol.

Ah Doax, I see you are trying to use a sump? to work as hvac for your house? Hows it going? Using an open loop or closed loop system. The sump part has me confused, guess you could be using air to cool off a rez of some sort. But "sump" makes me think of an open loop water system.
