My name is Ben. Live near Rapid City, SD but originally from Ohio. Not new to cars or modifying by any means but new to modding for MPG. I currently have 3 cars but only one will be my MPG-mobile. Am absolutely a Honda guy. I have owned 35+ cars in my time and I would say about 5 were non-Honda.

And will be getting my 92 Civic Si Hatch this weekend. Already paid for it, just waiting on title and delivery. The hatch plans are to modify tastefully to increase efficiency but I have yet to decide how much I am going to do Aero wise to get there. It will depend on what I am able to accomplish. I will be getting married in a few weeks and once I move to her location I will be traveling a 120 mile round trip so trying to get the hatch to where I only have to fill up once a week.

Are you able to break 20 mpg with the Jeep?

I haven't tried too hard yet. I average about 14-16 MPG but that is only with tires at OEM recommended pressure. I would imagine I can break 20 easily if I up the pressure, get the alignment better and take out my extra wheeling gear out.

Best modification for MPG, is information. All your cars are older than 96 so an MPGuino is a very helpfull mod.

I would not worry too much about the wheeling gear for MPG unless you are trying to get the mileage up in city/stop and go.

I have been reading a lot before I even joined. I'm in no way worried about the MPG of my Jeep or Integra really. Mainly the Jeep. The teg averages 33-35 with nothing for MPG.

The plan for the hatch is to do some aero that is visually tasteful and efficient and do a lot of underbody paneling and streamlining that isn't as in depth as a boat tail, air dam, etc. In between buying a D series or just putting the LS from the teg in it and saving money.

I can understand being new to the ecomodding society you don't want to do extreme mods to your cars quite yet, ex boat tail. Normally where people start with aero mods are air dams, grill blocks there easy to do can be made to look factory very easily and are cheap.

Also agree with above knowledge is power or in this case fuel economy the more you know about driving techniques and how your car is reacting to it would be the best way to maximize fuel economy. As far as the jeep what kind of lift and tire size always been into wheelin myself just never had the money to justify gettin a rig

Yeah I have read the two FAQ type things on tips/mods. I plan on using my spare hatch bumper to create a somewhat stock looking smooth bumper with a front lip that is of ABS or plastic to help act as an air dam but look more stock. I also plan to do the pizza pan wheel covers, under body trays, rear duckbill, remove antenna, remove passenger mirror, make a hood extension to cover the wipers, radiator fan ducting/tubing to allow cold air in without a front bumper 'trap door" and some potential weight reduction. I am going to try and see what kind of performance I can maintain while also getting good fuel efficiency.

DAILY???? Holy cow.

The SI has the worst gearing for highway travel. Any possibility of a transmission swap? In addition to aero mods, you need to get the cruising RPM down.
