New G1 Insight (A.K.A Winsight!)
Why do I keep buying these damned things...
Anyway, I picked up this insight for 1600$ on 6/21/2016. It has 148.5k miles (and rising). The good: 1Yr old BB battery (2 years warranty left). Shifts smooth. Clutch grabs great. Motor sounds good. Was really well maintained, even the EGR plate was clean and had proper spark plugs. Brand new RE92's on the rear, barely worn ones on the front. Interior is in decent shape. All underbody panels still attached. The bad: It has a salvage title. It was in a fairly bad accident, but IMO was repaired right. All body lines match, everything fits good, all the clips/fasteners are there. It has either a bad ISB or throwout bearing. I can't tell which. It only makes a grinding noise when you release the clutch (clutch engaged), and goes away when you press the clutch(clutch disengaged). I figure I will get 10-30k miles out of it's current state, most people don't even notice it, but I do. My plans: Install Turbo @ 8psi (kit is done, just need to install). Kill switch. Clutch switch. Brake Regen switch. Replace seat covers with ones from Tronsight. Tint windows. Paint car Plum crazy purple plasti dip. Replace front bumper with one from Tronsight (better condition). Install grid charge harness from Tronsight. Discharge/recharge battery. Swap rims for HX rims from Tronsight. Alignment. Swap rear springs over from Tronsight (Tronsight has KLR3CYL Springs). Swap belly panel from Tronsight (has aluminum pan on Tronsight). Replace cabin air filter. LED interior lights. Things already done: Changed MT fluid (@ 148,000). Swapped stock steering wheel with S2000 steering wheel. Installed OBDIIC&C. Have a few pics. http://imageshack.com/a/img921/3550/dJSlLz.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img921/8962/XYtij3.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img922/2686/kCVt79.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img924/2264/H0We2Q.jpg |

I can't help myself, at least once a week I check CL for any new ones that might have come on. Not that I need another one, but you know, just in case . . . |
Nice and clean look. I'm surprised it was repaired before being sold salvage. I guess it was private party, not an auction, and the owner loved the car quite a lot to keep it so well and maintain it. Nice find. Congrats!

That is an interesting legacy.

Replaced my steering wheel yesterday, along with a nice installation of my OBDIIC&C device. It's so nice having a *****in steering wheel. I didn't know the S2K steering wheels were so comfy!
Next up is a kill switch, along with a clutch switch. I'm going to wire them into the stock cruise control buttons from the S2K steering wheel, we shall see how that goes... |

EDIT: New seats on the menu soon? |
There can be only one.

I updated the OP with my plans with this car.

Are the HX rims lighter?
When you think about this car are you thinking Max MPGs or some combination of MPG and comfort? |
