Got over 18 gallons for less than $1

My friend asked me if I wanted gas for free today, of course I did so we drove next door to the gas station and parked close so he could use his Spinx savings card thingy to fill both our small tanks (since it lets you get up to 20 gallons)

He went in, slid his card which changed the gas price to $0.049 per gallon and asked the lady to put $1 on our pump. He filled up his car (11.4ish gallons) and then filled up mine, got it up to 18.326 gallons total.... Was really funny cuz he had to go in and get 10 cent change

If ya don't care about the story, check out the picture and go all

He just gets all his food and drinks from spinx instead of ever going to any mcdonalds or anything. Plus after cigarettes and everything else, he is building up his saving really fast every time.

Cigarettes or fuel two ways to burn up your money. Smoking is like driving a gas guzzler costing you a lot and giving you little in return. I'll get off the soap box now.

Nice savings on the gas for you.

That's a nice gift from your friend. My father has a Giant Eagle FuelPerks card, I wonder if there's a limit to how many cents off per gallon one can acquire with that?

So is that like a rewards program card sort of deal? All you get from gas stations up here is the privilege of buying more overtaxed fuel from them in the future ha ha.

Sheetz has one, but it only saves 3 cents a gallon of their tier 3 gas.

We have a few stores that deals with fuel perks program.

The Spinx card gives you 5 cents off a gallon for buying certain things in the store. There is a list of stuff up front you can buy that will give you 5 cents off. So he will go in there, get his lunch and a drink that will give him 10 cents off total. After however many days of doing this, it adds up and up, you can use the savings whenever, at 5 cents off, 40 cents if you want.... He just saved his up to $3.20 off each gallon.

A local supermarket "Tops" has a gas rewards program. You can get the price of a gallon of gas easily below $1. The problem is, the groceries are usually 2x as expensive as everywhere else.

Price Chopper does something similar here. $0.10 off at Sunoco stations for every $100 purchased, I think. I don't buy enough groceries (or gas for that matter) for it to make much difference.
