New Idea with Ecomodder Potential
I was checking a website out I may be using for work and came across this: https://angel.co/dash?ref=startup_card
I thought some here might like to check it out. From my personal perspective it doesn't look like something that will go anywhere. BUT interesting none the less. |
Doesn't look promising to me. I think most people would use it for the social aspect. Personally I don't want my driving habits, including speeds, location, etc. stored online.
As far as technology, nothing here is new. It's just a different way of using the data. It seems to mislead people by saying the app can implement safety features like crash detection. Every feature like 911, OBD diagnostics, ect. are already available, this app just puts it all together nicely. I do like a few things, specifically the OBD trouble code suggestions which include a description and links to local mechanics. The estimator will probably not be effective, but it's nice to have. |

No one will use it. People who love all the social BS aren't into cars. Actually the Volkswagen scene might be into it. I'm with you on the storage of driving data. After owning my V for a few months it hit me that it's equipped with On Star and can be tracked. The customer service rep was probably ready to report me to someone. Long story short, mine has the analog system which is now inoperable. |
Sales pitch: It's everything you like about Torque, now with Big Brother!
|
Doesn't Torque do all of this anyway ? I've never got Torque and my car(s) to work - not because of Torque because of the dead end useless idiotic should-be-put-to-death technology known as Bluetooth.

Fiat has a thing like this for their cars. You just have to plug in a USB drive into the port and the car will download data on your driving habits. Then you upload to your computer and it will give you suggestions on how to get better mpgs and you can compare to other drivers on their community. It's called EcoDrive. I always thought it was a neat concept because it encouraged people to think and drive more efficiently!
