1995 Buick Roadmaster won’t shift to park

My uncles 95 Roadmaster when shifted to park rolls like it’s in neutral

Reverse is in the wrong spot and easy to slide past.

Any ideas how to fix this quickly?

It’s like everything is shifted over a little on the gear select

It has a cable shifter, check at the transmission for a loose arm where the cable connects on the driver’s side about halfway back just above the pan. It could be a bad cable or the shifter on the column may be worn out it is 24 years old now. If everything looks good on the outside, after making sure the car will not run over you disconnect the cable at the transmission and shift it by hand and see how it feels. There should be 7 detents, p,r,n,od,3,2,1. If you don’t get that something inside may have broken, like putting it in park while still moving tends to bend linkage inside.
