New record for my Civic

Hey guys, just joined the forum a few weeks ago and have already noticed tremendous improvements in my MPG. The latest fill up (today) was at 472 miles. I used to average about 320 miles a tank, so I'm pretty happy with these results.
What I've done:
Tires inflated to 40 psi
New muffler
Cruised in the highest gear (5th going 35mph)
Coasted ALOT
Never drove past 65mph
Never used the a/c

For anyone interested, pictures of my Civic are in my introduction thread.
:)

Oh and I wanted to mention, this was in heavy traffic for roughly 15 miles a day.

Heavy traffic can be your friend. If its a 65 mph zone and top speed is 35, you are golden. If its multiple intersections and you have to sit at each intersection for 15 minutes to move 10 ft, thats another story.

Yeah it's mainly slow moving traffic on the hi-way with the occasional stops.

How many gallons did it take? How many miles per gallon? Miles only tell half the story.;)
As an example, I can drive my F-250 580 miles between fill-ups. BUT it takes over 30 gallons and costs over $100 and I only get 18.** MPG.

Please add your Civic to the garage and start a fuel log.

Tank size is about 10.4 gallons, so traveling 472 miles would be about 45 mpg.
I'll start my fuel log as well.

Nice dude. Im still trying to figure out my vacuum gauge, I have been shifting later but using less throttle and have been better gas mileage numbers. My commute is "hilly" and giving the car lots of throttle just to maintain seemed to be counter productive in my commute.

Iirc the actual tank size is somewhere around 12 gallons. 10.4 before the gas light turns on, 11.5ish before you completely run out of fuel. The other .5 is to keep the fuel pump submerged so it doesn't overheat and burn up.

I can give a few detail on the fuel tank, having tracked my fills for "a few" years.

3.2 gallons from topped off (see fuel sitting in the filler) down to needle on F.
4.7 gallons from F to 1/2.
3.9 gallons from 1/2 to low fuel warning light
1.0 gallons from warning light to truly empty.
