News related to Doug Pelmear's 110mpg engine
There are a couple of news items this week related to Doug Pelmear's "110mpg" engine.
First the Henry County Commissioners have reached a tentative settlement with Mr. Pelmear regarding the $50,000 loan he still owes to the county. Mr. Pelmear is granted a six month extension but must put up vehicles and equipment as collateral of at least equal value to the loan. I believe that Henry County already had the patents on the motor for collateral, but that must not have worked out. Second, the Henry County Commissioner that actually gave the $300,000 loan money to Revenge Designs has been indicted. Revenge Designs was supposed to use Pelmears engines in their cars. http://www.13abc.com/story/19657323/...ioner-indicted |
I'm sure Frank will enjoy any legal hassles old Dougie encounters.

Got that right!
Makes sense that a commissioner was in on the scam; glad to see at least one county official in the hot seat besides Doug. I wonder if all the local media that helped hype up the nonsense are reporting on the fail? |
I was hopefully waiting for frank response to this...:D

You'd think with all that fun money commish Myers got, that he could have afforded to get a better toupee.

Why was the loan extended again?
What I can't understand is why a 6 month extension was given to Mr. Pelmear for the loan. He already missed deadlines before so why not just take the collateral already?
Must be some legal reasons of which I'm not aware. |
I don't know any details but it seemed to me at first the only collateral was the "patent" which was total B.S.; looks like the law found a way to modify that and try to glom on to something real.

The story has also been on the radio (WNDH), in the Crescent-News as the headline story, and in the Northwest Signal. These are all local sources. |
Good. I went back-and-forth with people at the Blade (and others) about giving scam artists free promotion. The least they could do is also tell their customers "the rest of the story".

It doesn't seem like they are calling it a scam though
I also wrote to the local newspaper earlier saying they should look into the 110mpg claims because it seemed to be impossible. I don't recall seeing a very skeptical article.
Even now, the reports seem to blame lack of funding, disolved partnerships, and also the conflict of interest by the commissioner. I still haven't seen anything that says the claims made may have been impossible. |
