Not much of a GB deal for Canadians

I got my SGII with XGauge from Gifford Automotive in Ottawa for 169.99 including expresspost shipping. Tom is a great guy to deal with. I ordered through their website and 2 days later had the SGII in my car.

X2, Tom is great took only 3 days from Ont to SK.

Gifford is by far the best deal for Canucks!

You know for a Scangauge 3 a USB port would be nice so we can plug in a computer and get "full access" to all the data coming from the OBD port. Now that would be very cool!

NeilBlanchard 05-28-2008 01:56 PM

Hello,

I'm assuming that this unit plugs into a universal diagnostics plug, under the dash somewhere? How does one go about finding this plug?

MetroMPG 05-28-2008 06:01 PM

It's normally in a pretty conspicuous location.

The ScanGauge site has a picture of the plug which will help: http://www.scangauge.com/support/faq.shtml#22

NeilBlanchard 05-28-2008 07:43 PM

Thank you -- it is exactly where they said; under the dash and within inches of the steering column. The only difference is, mine is made of white plastic... ;)

NeilBlanchard 06-13-2008 05:01 PM

Hello,

An update on ordering a ScanGauge: they are wicked busy (as you might imagine) -- it took me about 12 tries (I lost count) all through the day today, and it finally rang and was picked up by Sarah. She informed me that they will be adding 2 new phone lines to try and handle the quantity of calls better.

They are backordered by about a week -- but they ship by 2nd day USPS Express, so hopefully I'll see it in a week and a half, or so. Oh, and they are honoring the special price for us! :-)

OfficeLinebacker 06-13-2008 06:38 PM

Damn, good to know!

TheDon 06-14-2008 12:26 AM

I think I might buy one of these for my parents cars.. My step dad would really use it in his little Aveo that he squeezes 40 mpg out of.

The location is available online for almost any car.

OfficeLinebacker 06-17-2008 02:24 PM

I'm a little nervous; I have called 5 times in the last 4 days (twice on the 14th and thrice today) and gotten no answer; today it's all busy signals.

Anyone ordered & received an SGII in the past week or so?

MetroMPG 06-17-2008 02:29 PM

Office: Did you see post #9?

ebacherville 06-17-2008 02:55 PM

Yes, I did. However I totally forgot and then today glossed over the part about the new phone lines. DUH.

I guess I'll just PayPal them and mention EcoModder in the subject and body.

Thanks for the reality re-check.

mwpiper 06-18-2008 10:23 PM

Now they tell me there's a discount.

Already ordered SGII. (sigh). Still waiting for it.

Waiting.....waiting.....(sound of foot tapping impatiently)

LaneLester 06-19-2008 08:35 AM

I bought mine through Amazon Prime for full price and had it in two days (this past Tuesday). Very slick device, although I wish the backlighting was a bit brighter. Even at the high setting, it's not what I would prefer. I did find that the right location in the vehicle helps a lot.

malibuguy 06-19-2008 09:11 AM

i bought mine saturday

they still haven't taken the money out of my account yet...& i haven't got the unit either

OfficeLinebacker 06-22-2008 01:00 AM

I placed my order simply by sending a PayPal payment.

Got a personalized confirmation email stating they were super busy so my unit would probably go out in about a week.

Got notification that it was shipped the next day, received it two days later.

It doesn't get any better than that.

MetroMPG 06-22-2008 10:35 AM

Thanks for the update, OLB.

malibuguy 06-22-2008 12:32 PM

i ordered mine last saturday, its been over a week & they haven't even drawn the money out of my account yet...

WTF is going on?!

cookie96civic 06-22-2008 09:05 PM

Fuel Flow Rate

Does the sg2 have a flow rate for fuel? I EOC sometimes but am a bigger fan of p&g. Im wondering what distance of P&G it takes to equal the fuel loss of start up during EOC. At idling what would you guess the rate is for a 1.6 civic? I would guess .4 gallons per hour. My friend who works at a transmission shop in town says bump starting is only really safe on much newer cluth assemblies. Not sure why he would mislead me.

MetroMPG 06-22-2008 09:13 PM

The SG doesn't measure fuel flow directly, but it calculates it. It will show GPH / LPH and I expect someone with a Civic may chime in with the info you're looking for. (If not post a new thread.)

jakrolla 07-10-2008 03:12 PM

I placed an order via paypal on July 2nd but have yet gotten any confirmation e-mail or anything ever since. The money has been drafted from my back account on the same day.

After a couple days, I sent an e-mail and called (no answer; left a voicemail) but have received no reply till today, July 10th.

Any one experiences the same?

mhmitszach 07-18-2008 12:17 AM

Wow. I just lost 10 dollars by forgetting this thread.

Add this newbie to the list of future owner of a Scan Guage II ... what a great perk beyond the friendly environment of people.

MetroMPG 07-26-2008 11:03 PM

You're going to wonder how you ever got along without that ScanGauge, Jay!

Been wanting something like this since we got my wife's Volvo S40 ... her car is older yet has more driver feedback (miles to empty, MPG, avg MPG). I had Prius envy until I found this site and this product :) Now I can hold off for EVs ;)

JayC 07-31-2008 05:45 PM

Update just received an email that my Scan Gauge was shipped today. So looks like they are running about 1 week behind. Can't wait. I'm on target to hit 30MPG on this tank.

TheTopher 08-03-2008 01:00 PM

Hello, I'm new to the site and just ordered mine. Just wanted to say this site rocks, great tips on saving fuel and good deals on tools to help save too.

MetroMPG 08-03-2008 01:10 PM

Hi TheTopher - welcome to the site. You'll love the SG2.

If you feel like posting a hello in the "Intro" forum, go for it. (What brought you here, what your goals are... that kind of stuff).

ScanGauge II Automotive Computer at JC Whitney

My weekly Whitney update came with the SG upfront.
$139.95 + shipping brings it to $159.95
$10 over the group buy, but less than the original offering.
Now we got to make them build and sell "Guinos" for us non OBD2 types. (Who are also computer illiterate)
L8R G8R,
S.
(edit)
Whitney just sent this.
Free Shipping on orders of $50 or more.

Quick question, is there any discount at ScanGaugeII - Australian Sales - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool - Ample Outdoors for the Aussie members?
That is assuming I can find out that they work with my Sirion GTVI, I have emailed to enquire.

SVOboy 09-04-2008 11:46 PM

I'd ask SG on their international shipping policies since they're a little wacky,
