Oh, the disappointment ...
... when your car's built-in instrumentation indicates 2.6 kg / 100km
but the fill-up turns out as 3,25 kg / 100km :( CNG, so it's weight / distance for me  |
That's still not bad.
Though given gasoline is about 0.7kg per liter, not as good, I'd wager, as you get on gasoline? |
Its normal for European car. The MPG readout is always optimistic so average Ruropean consumer feels good. My car (Renault ecu) says i drive for 4.2 l/100 km, whereas my spreadshet says its around 4.8 to 4.9.
Average consumers do not have spreadsheets with tank-to-tank average to check, I suppose. |

Car only switches to gasoline when the natural gas tanks are completely empty. Tried it when it was still new, but found it hard to get it under 5 L/100km (over 47 mpg) - that means 200km before running it dry ... It's tailored to run on CNG. On gasoline @ 5L/100km, the fuel price would double |
That's better !
2.91 kg/100km which accidentally matches the eco-up's rated CNG consumption But ... this was done on Low Calorific Value CNG, whereas the up! was officially tested on High Calorific Value CNG that contains about 20% more energy/kg :) One of the hypermiling tips is "Join a fuel-economy Forum" Please add "Rejoin a fuel-economy Forum" to the list :D |
My eco UP! Fis shows about 100 grams too little. I’ve got couple of tanks with 2.2kg calculated but it was 30C heat then. Now with -9C I’m lucky to get 2.9kg

With AC, gas consumption is about 0,12 kg/100km higher - but in city driving, AC can double the consumption ! On the up!, you can feel the power it takes off the engine  |
