Looking for a good wireless internet service. What should I choose?

Im going to be on the road and Id like to connect to the internet via my laptop.

I dont want a slow (dial up like) connection and Im pretty new to this wireless internet.

(Ive never had/wanted a cell phone that could access the internet)

I want to be able to connect anytime I want.
Not just near a starbucks or parking in residential and turning on my wireless.


What are my choices?
Id rather not spend too much.

Check out your local mobile phone shops (3, Tmobile, Orange, O2 etc) they all offer 3G wireless adaptors. Similar speeds to broadband, quite good signal/coverage.

I believe you can choose between paying monthly, or Topping it up in a similar way to a mobile phone (Pay as you go sorta thing).

Also, its usually a USB receiver - same size as an average USB pen drive.

Does the same type of device exist lets say for an Ipod? I would love to have high speed internet avail all the time from an ipod without having to buy into the whole phone component of the Iphone.

Ive seen it done with Sidekicks and Blackberrys.
Just interested in the reviews from people with experience.


I be using my laptop primarily in Florida. (east coast)

Just wish I knew someone from there.

The internet adapters from the cell phone providers is probably the best option. I don't know how the Internet only plans work, but you might need to limit usage to keep cost low.

The Ipod touch can access WiFi.

I know.

I just didnt want to impose on anyone. Seemed like the respectful thing to do.




Ill be going to Tampa, and will need to find a room for rent and a van to buy.

Tampa is west coast on the complete opposite side of where I am. As far as transportation let me know, I have plenty of dealer friends in Tampa, plus my own dealership has a 10K and under lot of good cars depending on what you need.
