76mpg (US), 92mpg (imperial) on my 32 mile commute.

I'll admit it's a one-way figure, but there was hardly any wind.

This is a lightly modded standard car, only mods are a half grill-block and 40psi in the tyres.

Exceeds my previous PB by +9mpg!

...and repeated today - 91.7mpg for the same trip. Slightly cooler weather.

The journey is all dual carriageway (2 lanes each way) or motorway (3 lanes each way). With the fuel price hike I've noticed cars drive more slowly now, which I find makes hypermiling easier.

Techniques:

Target speed 60mph indicated.

Slow slightly going uphill, maybe down to 50mph where traffic allows.
Coast down hills where I can maintain at least 55mph, otherwise back off the throttle to maximise mpg.
Coast whenever possible to junctions.
Accelerate slowly when joining carriageway (as slow as possible allowing for traffic)
The only time I accelerate hard is to avoid lorries tailgating, some want to do 65mph and overtake me so I'll back off and let them go.

Thats very impressive, any idea how the return trip is?

I've found that my new morning commute nets way better mileage than my return trip. Lately its been 55mpg in, 45 mpg home.

The 92mpg is a "return" trip in that it's my trip home.

I usually get lower mpg on the trip to work, but not by much at present; 90.5mpg (imp) this morning.

Differences between the two are a slight elevation, work is higher than home; lower air temperatures in the morning and maybe a colder engine. This time last year I was getting figures in the 70's on the same route - I think the biggest change is driving habits. Oh and a different brand of "green" tyre on the front - michelin now, was continental.

Not being smart or odd or anything but is that what the trip computer said? I believe they can sometimes read a little off. In fairness, not that much off! Keep it up and compare your actual tank average to what the computer says is your tank average.
I use a scangauge for my mpg readout but it is notoriously inaccurate.

Indeed you're quite right, the trip computer won't be spot-on and even worse the error seems to vary depending on driving style (steady or P+G for example.)

The 92mpg is a VAG trip computer figure, and I expect an 8% error (not in my favour!) so if I'm on the right side of 80mpg for real, I'll be pleased. Whatever, the trend is steeply upwards!

I'll have to fill up tonight...

Looking forward to seeing 100mpg on the dash with some mild 'modding.

I gained around 7% after switching to the Energy Saver (all around)
That was well before joining ecomodder so the results weren't too biased by other changes.

...and the tank figure was 71mpg (imperial) which is also a personal best.

I drove 600 miles with an indicated 100 miles range left.
