Photoshop please

I drive a 1992 Toyota MR2, which gets great gas mileage for a sports car

I was thinking about some rear fender skirts for it, but I'm afraid they wouldn't look good

If somebody could photoshop some for me, with all the side moldings and everything, that would be great

here's a picture: http://www.turboimport.com/catalog/p...sr_mr2_gt2.jpg

PS: Not my car, my exhaust and rims are much more subtle

Removing the OEM spoiler would probably have more effect that wheel skirts, and wouldn't take nearly as much work.

Johnsauce 12-18-2008 09:35 PM

It would be hideous without the spoiler

and I don't actually plan to do this definitely yet, I just want to see if it would kill the looks of the car

Christ 12-18-2008 09:43 PM

You know they didn't all come w/ that spoiler, right? They actually look pretty good without it.. IMO, they look better without it, but that's just me. I think most OEM spoilers are more like genitalia-replacements than functional pieces of engineering.

I digress - Hope you can get your PS job done.

Ah man, I'm in love (with your car atleast :D)

One of my dream-mobiles.

Actually, looking from the slope of the roof to the spoiler, I'd say the spoiler is actually causing a smaller wake, but it also looks as if the upward angle and how the spoiler wraps around the sides of the car causes the problems. More frontal area and maybe larger wake. I can't tell without confirming a fluid test or windtunnel test, but I'd say that it would depend.

If you made it from black, and your MR2 is that same color, than it wouldn't be so bad, if not, and it was white, you would run into some clashing problems

Look up akashik's (Spelling?) toyota truck with the rear fender skirts. they run so smoothly with the body that they almost look stock, and they blend in with his silver truck/black fender flares/trim truck.

Thanks DifferentPointofView, for some helpful input

I actuallly dabble in fiberglass bodywork, so I was thinking that if I could bend some sheetmetal to the rough contours of the car, I could build it up with fiberglass and the like to look exactly stock, then have it painted to match the car

The car is black, btw

and a rough representation of the potential fenderskirt

That actually looks great! even that representation is better than i can do with PS LOL.

Johnsauce 12-18-2008 10:52 PM

Yeah, I want to do it more for the "different factor" than the .2 extra MPG, plus I don't have any projects to work on right now

Christ 12-18-2008 10:55 PM

Well, at least you chose a worthwhile project LOL instead of painting a toaster or something.

I'm a big fan of making things smaller. I like small stuff, so I try to make everything smaller. If I don't try to make it smaller, I feel that it's too large. If I can't try to make it smaller, for whatever reason, I think of ways to make it smaller, and I make it smaller in my head. Which still satisfies my "make it smaller" idea.

PS Anyone have a CitiCar for sale? I'd like to make it smaller. LOL

Soooo.... What are your other ideas for the car?

Johnsauce 12-18-2008 11:07 PM

ha although somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades, I'm still just your average highschool kid at heart.

I'm about to put a new sound system in it, molding some cupholders and more storage space for the interior

as for aeromodding, the only other thing I might do is a smooth undertray, since I don't really have a grill to block or anything..
