Poll... How old are you?

Someone in another thread asked about EM demographics. I had no idea. So let's find out with this unscientific poll!

FastPlastic 08-05-2008 10:36 PM

25... So I totally missed the poll at the top before I posted.

sdprius858 08-06-2008 01:20 AM

Prob one of the younger members..19

Just wait til you get my age...think your missing stuff now, just wait. Never mind, you'll forget what your waiting for.

tasdrouille 08-06-2008 07:52 AM

I wonder if we'll get different results than the cmpg pool. I somehow have the intuition the average age will be higher here.

MetroMPG 08-06-2008 08:18 AM

I was going to bet on younger, Martin.

I did this same poll @ GasSavers when I used to hang out there, and it was skewed younger than CMPG. I figured that people interested (or at least active) in modding tend to be younger.

We'll see...

bikin' Ed 08-06-2008 09:46 AM

which Age

I'm 52 calendar years old. I feel 30, act like I'm 21, and Dr Oz at Live Life to the Youngest with RealAge says I'm 38.
:D

ATaylorRacing 08-06-2008 10:04 AM

I am a 57 yeaar old "teenager"

Have 3 sons all born in June...aged 27, 24, and TWO!!!

Wife is 35 but tha'ts okay because she still gets carded.

If any ladies out there think I left the ex for a younger woman...you are wrong! The ex kicked me out and married the exchange student we brought from Europe!

igo 08-06-2008 10:06 AM

24. 25 next month.

atomicradish 08-06-2008 10:21 AM

Tango Charlie 08-06-2008 02:49 PM

Wish I would've pulsed a little harder up this hill before I glide down...

lucidexp 08-06-2008 03:10 PM

Good to see so many of the under 30 crowd represented.

I am 35, but I honestly thought this forum would be more of 30 - 60. Nice work guys, great displays of age!

azraelswrd 08-06-2008 03:29 PM

30s myself. So far looks younger than CleanMPG with a higher bias towards the 20 block

I just whined about being 20 for 2 hours tonight, :(

metroschultz 08-07-2008 01:11 AM

46 going on 16

I'm younger now than when I was in my twenties.
@ 20 I was raising two kids and trying to be the sole breadwinner in a home with a High Maintenance wife. I was angry all the time and felt reallllllllly old
@ 30 I lived alone in a one bedroom apartment and sent most of my money to my ex-wife. I stopped being angry and started feeling joy at each new day. I felt thirty-something.
@ 40 I was a newlywed of 5 years and these are the best times of my life.
I am 46 now and I feel like a kid again. Midlife Crisis? Maybe. I think it has more to do with realizing that the world doesn't rest on my shoulders and I can ask for help once in a while.
But the downside is I have abused my body for so long and worked so hard that now it thinks it is time to retire.
Ce la Vie.

Traded in a 2005 Toyota Tundra Regular Cab i had built for desert racing for $11,777.

Prius was in an advertisement in March for $19,947. Went in that morning at 10AM and bought it. The payment is 1 week of work and I am lucky enough to be living at home while going to school.

silverfox 08-07-2008 11:28 AM

I originally posted this in the wrong place (you have to bear with us old guys - we have "sometimers" moments) so i will move it here and hope it is in the right place now

How old am i? well i was born on September 13 - 1938 - so i guess that makes me 69 years 326 days old (funny seems longer than that) the month i turned 14 years old i got a job on a farm 2 states away and never moved back home - been on my own ever since. Worked lots of jobs in my lifetime, from mechanic to construction - from stunt man to teacher - professional racer - sailor - computer designer to truck driver - you name it and i have most likely worked in that field - As they say "jack of all trades - master of none" - I have lived a long and busy life and enjoyed every minute of it (well except for that day in 1952 <g>) I still enjoy life and try every day to learn something new.
Hope that answers your question <lol>

58, Don't think about it till I work low to the ground and have to get up, or look in a mirror.

Boy do i know that feeling - I have to put everything at least 2 feet off the floor or i can't reach it

Johnny Mullet 08-07-2008 08:59 PM

I am 37 years old and feel like I'm 20 most of the time.

elhigh 08-07-2008 09:17 PM

40

Wife's 10 years older, but everyone assumes I'm the older one. I guess if she were bald too I might have a chance...

I was thinking that most of the modders on here would be younger. Here's the reason they have more time to be on the computer, ie fewer have kids or wives.

There are probably more older modders not on the computer at all.

I am glad to see old farts on here, after all, it takes years of experience to come up with some really good stupid ideas.

Maybe we can talk some of the younger ones into stuff that would be to dangerous for us. Remember you heal faster when your younger.

Of course you can replace the bumper with a high pressure hydrogen fuel cell boosted with a liquid oxygen tank, excellent idea! Wish I had time for that myself, but you know family commitments and all.

ajax_6531 08-08-2008 05:31 AM

I'm 26, but the wifey says I was 30 when I was born. Does that make me 56???

justpassntime 08-08-2008 05:34 AM

Wow you musta been a big baby!

You may be right about the kids having more time than most people on here but as for myself i find that since i retired i have all the time in the world to spend on the computer. (I used to have a dishwasher - but she divorced me) all my kids are grown with family's of their own.
If it is too cold or too hot or i just don't feel like going anywhere i spend about all my time on line. (I love being retired) - If i feel creative i build things in autocad (sometimes i even take the plans out to the shop and make the parts) - about the only thing that slows me down is my physical condition, if i go work for a couple of hours i have to rest 3 or 4 to recover. But then i don't have anything else that i have to do <vbg>

Jeece 08-08-2008 11:34 PM

Good thing I answered this poll now instead of in one month - I'll enter the 30s bracket by then. :p

Greenblazer 08-09-2008 07:05 AM

I am 42. I think that you will find that the older people are, the less likely that they are to be using the internet. The older generations are less likely to be hanging out online. I know that there are the occaisional oddballs, but there are a lot more younger people online than there are old people online.

There are also a lot of older people who have been hypermiling for years that would never think to look for a site like this even if they had a computer.

Later,

Allan Greenblazer

Liquid rocket propelled car eh?

I think someone won a darwin award for something like that. Crashed into a cliff 300meters above the road after flying 7 miles, with a rocket booster on the roof of his car. Granted, you can't shut off solid rockets like the one he used... liquid is so much safer.

laserman56 08-29-2008 11:34 PM

52 and glad that I'm not starting over, like some 20 something kid. Yes I have my middle age moments ........ and I spend way too much time on the puter. Seeing what everyone else is doing to there autos. keeps me coming back.
