Reverse wake?
This has been on my mind and I have no idea if there are studies on it, and it kind of makes sense but is there a benefit of someone else tailgating you?
We all know that driving behind another vehicles wake can improbable your fuel economy, but what if someone else is behind you extremely close? Wouldn’t they essentially be filling in part of your cars wake? Obviously the benefits wouldn’t be as good as dragging behind someone else, but in theory could it benefit you?
I was reading about “ slip streaming” and it was saying the longer the line of cars, the better the benefits. That has to mean that all of the cars in the chain link affect each other right? Like it says slipstreaming is more effective than just driving behind a single vehicle.
Does this theory make sense or am I just over thinking things?

Interesting... I wonder why the middle vehicle isn't benefited the most?
Is the caboose in a train really the lowest drag car in the chain?

very interesting. i guess it wasnt just in my head. during my road trip, i noticed better mpg and less drag feeling in the car when there was also a car behind me versus just in front of me. plus the added benefits of the corridor effect. was getting like 68mpg going 80 mpg thru the atlanta metro with everyone driving aggressively bumper to bumper at high speeds

Sighard Hoerner published this data in his book,' AERODYNAMIC DRAG.'
In a 'streamlined' train, if fully-boat-tailed, the tailcars investigated demonstrated as low as Cd 0.10, same as many of the railcars within the train.
Ripley and Tietgens, 1934, self-propelled WESTINGHOUSE, passenger railcar was reported at Cd 0.08.
If you go back to 1865, you'll see an example of the 'ideal' caboose.
