Rear view problems
Many years ago a friend wanted to go to Bonneville and designed a car strictly for aerodynamics. It did not have a rear window so we got our heads together and came up with a periscope type device that actually worked very well...in theory. With outside-side mirrors and that periscope type mirror inside, one might be able to build a nice safe aero-body driver.

R. B. Fuller's Dymaxions used periscopes. The first one had a free-standing external mirror with flush viewports:

On the car in question, the body tapered down from the drivers area roof towards the rear. The mirror was basically a regular rearview mirror in looks inside, but was tilted to make the view go up to a second mirror facing to the rear outside. Rearward viewing was totally open without obstruction.

The Lamborghini Countach was also planned to have a periscope. (In the sense that the rear view mirror looked above the roof. |

I find having two fish eye mirrors mounted where my sun visor is gives me a good view around, even with a Kammback .
