ScanGauge II Placement 1998 Honda Civic HX

Hi there, I've been wanting a Scangauge II for quite some time now and I think I'm going to get it in the next couple weeks. I have a 1998 Honda Civic HX 5 speed manual and I'm trying to find a good place to integrate it in the car. Unfortunately, I don't have a 99-00 Model which has a double din. I'm thinking about mounting it in the pocket right above the cupholders in front of the shifter.

I've looked into Belndmounts but it doesn't work with the type of rearview mirror I have.

I was thinking about getting a piece of plexiglass and try to cut a hole in there and screw that piece into the pocket but I know that will look like crap. I already have a million wires behind my dash because of the stock radio I have in there that controls my keyless entry. If you can help me out with this, that would be great!! Thank you! :D

When I get one I'm thinking about doing it either ontop of the steering column cover, or in the dash where the factory radio is now. it's a guage you will be checking often. don't put it where you have to search for it.

I mounted mine in the instrument cluster. It doesn't block any of the gauges or lights, just the trip odometer reset is behind it. Also it's really easy to run the cable behind the knee panel. It's a nice clean setup that is easy to glance at.

That might be a better idea to mount it in the instrument panel. I don't want it in direct sunlight in the summer when it gets hot. Is there a way to mount it on top of the air vent on the left hand side of the dash? I don't really want to tape anything so maybe I can screw a piece of metal behind the air vent and have it mounted like that? I'm a little OCD and I don't really like seeing and wires or velcro in my car.

I was thinking of taking that air vent out, and screwing on a piece of sturdy metal to it and clip it back in and mount the Scangauge II on there. That way I can see it out of the corner of my eye since I don't like anything where the instrument panel is.

Have you considered gitting an Ultragauge instead? It's got more data displayed... :D

You can purchase it with or without a windshield mount now. ;)

Yeah, that's an option. I test fitted my scan gauge in a couple of locations before I applied the Velcro. I ended liking it in the dash the best. And the Velcro is nice because you can take the unit unit out easily. Post pics if you come up with something unique.

Mine is installed in the exact same place, and works fantastic.

Anyway, if your big on no wires etc, why not a corner window mount? I'm sure it can't be hard to find something that would work. Question though.... how do you mount the scan gauge when there are no screw holes?
