Volt Meter with alarms

Unfortunately my Ultraguage won't display battery voltage, and therefore i can't set alarms for it. I'd like to get a volt meter set up with the ability to have alarms at certain voltages (ie, low voltage alarm at 12.5v, and a hi voltage alarms at 14.7v) Anybody have any suggestions??

A Zener diode for the high voltage inline with an alarm (buzzer or light, maybe both) should work for the max voltage.

A Zener diode for the low voltage inline with a relay that will close a circuit to an alarm when the input voltage drops below the zener threshold.

I am not a Spark-E. Others may have better ideas.
