SGII Installation in Overhead Console on Cherokee
 

Well, I've been running the Scangauge for a while now and directly attribute it's feedback keeping my right foot in check to my FE gains. It's been installed ala velcro to the top of my rear view mirror for the entire year and luckilly hasn't fallen off once. That's when I came across this on ebay:

The thing is that the "Limited" trim level of my vehicle has this nice overhead console with extra storage and much better interior lighting (selectable for seperate front and rear passengers instead of the "dummy dome" that I currently have). The seller didn't have the factory "brain componentry" that allowed this display to interface with the vehicles computer, but that was fine by me as I had plans to use my Scangauge anyway. I spliced in the new lighting to my trim wires and got them functioning. So, with a little help from my rotary tool and a mini cutoff wheel I carved a fresh opening for the gauge to rest in.

It actually fits very snuggly so there's almost no chance of it falling. Took it for a testdrive and the angle is a bit shallow for my taste, but is still quite clear. Now I have better interior lighting and space for my accessory light switches

I may do something similiar with my vehicle (console out of a Bravada in my S10) since yours looks so professional.

One quick word of safety though: When cutting anything using a rotary tool -for the love of anything put on safety glasses. I had one of the miniature cutting disks shatter last night on me at 22,000 rpm and heard it smack the glasses so I'm definately glad they were there.

I had some white papers in my passenger seat today and noticed a lot of glare off of them, but that's only a mild inconvenience.

Nice, clean install! With where you mounted yours, is it distracting at all having to look up to high when driving? I'm just curious because I just bought an SGII for my Civic and haven't been able to decide where to mount it.

Looks good. Wish I could do something like that, but I have the sunroof so the motor/switch is right where you put it. So far mine lives in the ash tray.

It's perfect for me as I keep my peripheral eye on my mirror and have learned where to look on the guage for the numbers I rely on most (TPS & MPG) without really taking my eyes off of the road. Also, I'm 77 inches tall so being as my head is about half an inch from the headliner it's in my direct line of sight.

Clean install... but I would rear end someone looking at the gauge.
