Smile SOOOOOOO not a 10 minute install...

i picked up a vacuum gauge today over at harbor freight for $20 and just got done putting it in. AFTER 4 HOURS!!!!!! Turns out i had to remove the entire dash just to get at the instrument panel light wire. PAIN IN THE BEHIND!! but its in and i am going to try it out on my next trip somewhere, wherever i go. it even changes colors. i wanted to hook up the light so i could see it at night.

Great Job! The install stuff is such a PITA, but you'll be happy you did it (tomorrow, not today).

Um... why not just use the wire from the ashtray (that I hope you don't use, at least while driving) or the glove box, or the HVAC illumination, etc? Or even tap one from the fuse box...

Great job on the install, though. You're already further ahead than I am.

Talking there is no switch on the gauge so i needed it to turn on and off with the dash light

there was black, orange and white for wires on the gauge and the black went to ground. the orange was supposed to be positive and the white was to go to the dash lights to turn on the gauge. I didn't want to mess with hooking up three wires so i just hooked up the black to a current ground on the steering column mount, and twisted the orange and white together and hooked them to the dash light wire. was easy except for getting the dash apart. Theres a LOT of steel back in there!!
