Starting ideas for a permanent grille block
 

When and if winter finally gets to Michigan, that means it won't be too long until the ice is gone and I will be putting my "nice" bumper back on.

I'm trying to think of a good grille block solution that is:

1. Cheap/Inexpensive
2. Easily removable OR invisible
3. Will NOT harm the paint at all

So far my ideas are either put a coroplast block behind the upper grille? Although not sure this will help at all... the upper grille is inset pretty far:

Or build an air dam for the front and put foam weatherstripping on the back so it won't damage the paint... although not sure how I would attach it. The fronts of the sidemarkers have screws in them, and I already have extra-long screws in there to hold on my current air-dam, so that would be one option but idk how I would attach it across the front.

Any ideas?

get a closer pic of the front grille. at about 45%. stand off to the side so i can see some deminsion.

Git some foam rubber and cut it down so it fits snugly into yer open grill slot. Attach yer coroplast front to that and insert it into yer grill slot. :D

Make the cover into a big Ford emblem. ;)

zip tie on a piece of chloroplast, could be on the front or behind the grill.

@Weather Spotter I tried having coroplast on the outside of the grille and it does scratch the paint :(

I thought there was already a thread on this topic. Just put some plastic in the oval and call it a day.

Why do you care if it scratches? You replaced your original bumper with a non matching white one. Are you planning to paint the whole car white?

you could put rubber on the edges of the chloroplast (silicone, a gasket, liquid electric tape, etc)

they way to do it is to make athe oval with reg poster paper....don't use something still, it wont follow the curves. you openin is slightly 3d. I would cut to just hit the edges.
you can buy coloerd electrian tape.
Since the grille block will only touch the edges, if it was me. I'd pop of the logo and get some thing round and hollow (toilet paper roll comes to mind) to brabe the center of the block to the grille. THen I would super glue the logo to the clear grille

I'm new to this forum, and I just finished installing grille blocks and a large, front underside deflector for my new Aveo. What I utilized was aluminum trim coil, which is used as a siding material for homes.

I'll be posting photos soon on the project. The end result can be professional looking and even undetectable if you cut it exactly and can attach it using existing hardware mounting points.
