Struts lowering and civic

Ok so the vx rides like crap. Its sits on the stock 13 vx wheels with some 175/70 tires. Blown struts and a trillion miles. Cx rides way nicer. Other than swap suspensions i would like to lower the car and some new struts. Who has done it and any recommendations? I would love to do the Koni yellows and ground control sleeves but man 800$ I don't want it to ride like a truck I know I don't want anything harder than a 350f 250r spring. Anyone have any setups? If I could ride in the eibach setup and on a set of tein s springs. Help. I want comfort and a little lower.

I had a set of Edlbach adjustable coil overs on my VX for a while... worst idea ever! I had it lowered 1.5" and it didn't help a bit with mileage, what it did do however was wear out my suspension bushings over the course of the two years I had it like that, nearly $1,000 later I had a car I could stand to drive again, lowering it made it hit pavement going in to parking lots, it made it ride supper rough and I started getting stuck in the winter more often.
Putting it back to stock height was well worth the money.

No I don't want the eibach coilovers. Just the springs I know what a comfort spring rate is and if you had coilover you could have raised the car up. Most of the bushings in the front are new now as is the new sway bar.

Koni yellows will tend to be firm, even when on the soft settings. For stockish spring rates, the Tokico Blue shocks are decent replacements. I was even happy with some Monroe shocks on my first CRX for a good while.

Springs are, IMHO, pretty standard. If you find the right rate, the right length, the right diameter, and the right end finish, you should be able to get them pretty much from anyone. The super-duper cheap places maybe not, but as long as the steel they're made from is decent the spring should be fine.

I've herd the blues like to blow out after a year. I'm not planning to use cheap springs. I loved the yellows on my Volvo. Have you had yellows on a civic? I do agree about the springs they are what they are. As long as the rates are similar and they are of quality then they are about par.

I don't want it slammed just like an inch lower and some comfort. I got the front sway bar installed.

I have this theory about cars and suspensions in particular.
The are designed by engineers for a purpose and reason.
The days of making changes w/ no side effect are over.
You start to throw everything out of wack and put presure on parts that werent designed for that particular load.
especially on smaller economy cars where margins are already thin. Parts are only designed w/ so much tolarance.
I have seen it time and time again on the infiniti forum.

ps...what I find 'cute' is that he went 1.5 inches and major regretted it.
you say...I'm only going an inch....not slamming it.

so the diference is 1/2 an inch.....and you say he 'slammed it??!!??!!?!?!?!?!?
slamming is 2 (at least)

dont mean to sound harsh.....do what you want. Just underastand.....been there done that .....and we're just trying to share.

Yes I know but what sPring rates were his coil overs? How low was his suspension already toast? I just want to close the wheel gap a bit and not loose my teeth. I might just use the koni orange and either Tein s soft cushy spring or groundcontrol set up any rates you want.
