Suggest me inputs for Audi 80
 

I`ve recently got my first car, an 1988 Audi 80 ( Audi 80 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) 1.8S with mono-jetronic ( Jetronic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) engine. Car on itself runs good (previous owner handled ir really good), alas, it is running expensive on gas. I don`t know why, but it can ride (in city) 50km with 8l of gas which gives me 6.25 kilometers per liter (which is, I can ride 31.0685596 miles with 2.11337642 gallons and that gives me 14,700911445 MPG). It`s way too much, I`ve tried 108 eccodriving suggestions but still nothing.

That`s why I wanted some MPG meter, but there are no meter for these cars. I`m aware of "single-point injection" and "Mono-Jetronic is different from all other known single-point systems, in that it only relies on a throttle position sensor for judging the engine load.", these could be starting entries for me.

I`ve googled around a lot, i`ve looked in forum for mono-jetronic engines, for similar vehicles, for audi 80, even audi 4000 and keywords from "was marketed as TBI (by GM) or CFI (by Ford)" but still nothing.

Does the car have the OBDII (diagnostic) plug under the dash? Have you raised the air pressure in your tires? What kind of drinving are you doing: city/stop and go, or medium speed highway/back roads, or highway -- or some combination?

You might try a (partial) upper grill block; starting at the top.

Welcome to EM. It sounds to me as though you have a bad O2 sensor. From the wiki:

I definitely consider testing and/or replacing it.

The 1988 Audi 80 should have a K-Jetronic continuous fuel injection system. The injectors are not pulsed on and off. Rather, they remain on and the flow is varied. It is possible that the ECU has a fuel flow output signal because most Audis had a trip computer as an option. For example, my 1990 Audi 200 has a trip computer and uses an ECU signal for fuel flow. Some research into the signals provided by the Audi 80 ECU is necessary. If a fuel flow signal is available, the MPGuino could be used.

According to AudiWorld (http://www.audiworld.com/model/, the U.S version of the 1988 Audi has CIS-Motronic engine control for the 4 cylinder engine and CIS-E III engine control for the 5 cylinder. The CIS (Continuous Injection System) is the one I mentioned above.

Perhaps this will help. Look at the red connector here: http://kirkster.dk/billeder/faq/FIS_kabling.pdf for the fuel consumption signal. This is not specifically an Audi 80 but it may be similar.

Where is the temperature sender on an Audi 80?
Audi 80 SE, 2.0L, 1995. The temperature gauge in the dash is dead, and iv been told its the temperature sender. iv looked and its between 2 senders. 1 is blue with 2 terminals, and the other is grey, with 3 round terms. went down the parts shop, and the guy didn't know which one. Help! driving to Ireland in a few days, and don't really want to risk not knowing the temp of the engine, really appreciate help.

Hmm. For an 80, I don't know. This isn't a good forum to get a proper answer. Ask your question again on this forum quattroworld.com Forums: 80/90 Coupe + Cabriolet. Although, the 2.0L engine was never offered in the U.S. Lots of very experienced Audi people there.
