Tesla grid battery "generates" $1million profit!

Anybody seen this yet? Pretty interesting, too bad this would somehow be illegal here in the USA.

Anywhere that sells electricity higher during peak hours and less on off-peak hours should be able to make money...

Hopefully get their due during those occasional rolling brownouts ya'll get when you need your A/C. ;)

It is better than that - it earns income while charging and while discharging.

Corporation makes profit. Corporation sponsors one or more politicians. Laws are made.

Why would it be illegal? It's basically what any grid does - have "spinning reserve" available for stability. In the US a lot of it is hydro, which Australia doesn't have a lot of.

ha

So don't put them in cities and maybe space the battery housings further apart so they all don't burn.
In another video I saw the fd intentionally not spraying water on the buring battery housing, but spraying water on the adjacent housings. Very smart. So when one starts burning don't even try to put it out because there is no putting it out, just keep it from spreading.
Grid batteries are generally a stupid idea.
Remember that's forty-five hundred electric cars worth of batteries sitting there, assuming they are 100kwh tealas.
Australia needs nuclear power.

There I even deleted the tracking junk out of the url.
Don't you just live happy endings?
I guess next time save the water just let em burn.
So much for putting these things in cities, they will need to be treated like coal fired power plants and put in minimum population areas.

This Lubrizol plant was right in the city. Burned for more than a week and they are still trying to contain the environmental damage

"More than 160 fire departments, with more than 350 firefighters, helped extinguish the fire, according to Rockton Fire Chief Kirk Wilson."

On the other hand the Tesla battery fire was contained to one module and the rest of the facility continues working. Seem like their design worked.

Funny that we are so used to gasoline cars catching on fire that it isn't even news but when a EV catches fire the makes national headlines.

If that's a petrochemical plant we actually need those. Grid battery storage not so much.
Looks like the aftermath of a mostly peaceful protest.

Tesla's grid battery up in smoke.

As of posting this it's still on fire.
