Are there too many "stooshies" around just now ?

I've been more an observer of late rather than a poster - hooray maybe quite a few tap - good for you.

Just a quick browsing of various forums seems to reveal a worrying trend - there are quite a few that seem to descend into what the locals near me in Scotland call "a bit of a stooshie" - an argument, a tiff, a disagreement, a blazing row - or also what Rugby players (Rugby - think American "Football" but without the wuss like padding :D ) would call a "ruck".

Now I'm not known to avoid one myself - at least I am self-aware - but I try to "play the ball and not the man" but I'm wondering if there is something in the water just now causing all these disputes ?

And more productively can we do something to avoid them ?

Or maybe its just me sampling at a bad time.

I find myself reading far more than I post, but I haven't noticed it. Of course people disagree, but it never seems like it's very angry or argumentative- or maybe I stop reading when it gets too off topic.

I have seen a few threads in past years (from searches, I find some weird/old stuff) that was clearly people just angry and basically yelling at one another, but it seems like that is old. I know people disagree, like the "best >7k car for a 55 mile work commute" where some favor diesel/VW, others are anti VW, I'm for just the Insight, it's not really an argument, rather the OP wants to hear suggestions/opinions, and we are giving our two cents. We all think we have the clear, OBVIOUS, answer...key word is think lol

As I tapped it may just be me and a sampling / time issue but it seemed like a few threads are going this way, and not just in the Unicorn farm.

Only recall one thread that went that way in the last week or two.

Some peoples 'feathers' get "ruffled" more easily than others.

I've been said to have a thick skin and a dense skull, so I'm seemingly semi-immune.

"Not on this website, but on other websites"(?), the people with 'ruffled feathers', who are killing websites are sometimes the moderators, who are banning people who don't agree with the moderators & possibly other posters. Some posters who do help people, are running afoul of moderators, who believe they are reading the majority opinion properly.

"Freedom of speech" is sometimes interpreted as the "majority opinion". Those "minorities" who present fine data & arguments (AND maybe, not so great data & arguments), are being censored & worse, if their information is thought NOT to be the majority opinion...... which is the definition of the minority.

Those "minorities", must post more, if there are many posters with opposing views. & those, defined "inordinate" posts are being attacked as too much for the "harmony of the website", bringing on repercussions.

Let "peace" reign, that "harmony" may survive..........NOT!!

I'm not against debate it just seems that people seem to either offer or seem to take on a lot of umbrage for little reason.

If I am the only one noticing it maybe it's no problem.

If so, as you were gentlemen (and ladies)
