Thrifty or "green"?

I imagine many ecomodders/hypermilers are who they are because they're thrifty. Others might be because they're eco-consious or "green", or maybe
you just want independence from foreign oil, or your worried about peak oil and how it will affect future generations.

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10:

1 being all thrift (I'm ecomodding/hypermiling to save a buck and that's it)

10 being other reasons (Even if gas were free, I'd still be ecomodding/hypermiling).

I'm about a 4 on that scale.

With the amount we drive, using 20% more or less fuel wouldn't noticeably effect our budget. It's about the amount of pollution we produce, either directly by driving, or indirectly by the long process of digging, refining and transporting.

I am an angel of the lord, caring for all of gods little creatures, as I burn a track down the freeway in my caddy. For this Jesus loves me and my Daihatsu.

Can't participate. I have to vote 1 and 10.

I just like being efficient.

Can't vote on this one. Like Frank, I'm heavy on both ends of this scale. It's not "either or", they go hand in hand.

I spend more than I save on fuel-saving mods. I enjoy the challenge, and I enjoy engineering exercises. I'm also prepared to keep driving the same car, just as often, even if the price of gas rises to $20/gal. I hope it does, so the roads become more bicycle-friendly.

I commute on $1/day of fuel. Gas isn't free, but it's close enough.

no vote... I am the guy that challenges himself for best fuel mileage because it's fun, and looks for the best price on gas because I'm cheap.

Guys, that means you're somewhere in the middle, (i.e. 5 or 6).

I guess I'm in the middle. But I enjoy helping the earth and learning more about cars/aerodynamics.
