Angry 2007 Dodge Charger

Hi everyone,
my dodge charger has water bubbling in the upper radiator but i was able to drive the car from Dallas to Oklahoma. My mechanic suggested that i change the thermostat but i don't know fir sure why the water is boiling. The temperature goes up to half and never passes half

If it is bubbling air then it may well be the head gasket is leaking / blown.
Check the oil for water contamination, milky oil.
If it is actually overheating it could be the water pump or a air leak in the system, having a pressure leak somewhere will cause the coolant to boil.
If the rad cap was faulty or more likely not done up tightly it would overheat. If the thermostat stuck closed it would overheat and the top rad tube would not have any coolant in it. If the water pump went it may not have water in the rad hose either..
First check if the rad hoses are both getting hot, a stuck thermostat would only heat one hose.

When you say water bubbling it makes me think that the head gasket is the problem, your temp gauges are saying its not the temperature overheating. Strange your check engine light has not come on.

im going to assume for a moment that you have the 3.5 v6. i will first suggest a new pressure cap (no matter which engine you have). if the coolant still boils, have it flushed and filled, only use zerex G05 on the 3.5l

what indication do you have of boiling water? can you hear the boiling or do you see bubbles coming up through the water with the cap off?

It's a V6. I only see the bubbles when I stop the car that is when I hear it. The cap deos not come out it still stays tight. I actually drove the car 165 miles and the gauge didn't go pass half and it did not bubble. But when I drove abt 20 miles around the neighborhood and stoped I heard it bubbling. There is a small hole at the top of the radiator deos that v a prop too. The cap deos not leak an there's also not any signs of leakage. Could the hole be causing I just saw it today
